What faith in humanity? Although the heart that legless vet displays could rekindle it. I'd better go watch whatever the Fux network is putting on TV tonight to crush that spark of humanity that's threatening to flare up.

This could be submitted to the Darwin Awards
Madrid, March 11
There was a report of a robbery in a roadside bar-bordello in the outskirts of Madrid. A Guardia Civil car came to the scene, and after finding out there were five robbers armed with pistols in the bar, they asked for reinforcements. Several patrol cars promptly surrounded the locale.
The robbers were intimated to surrender peacefully with a loudspeaker, but they defiantly fired the guns at the agents. These returned fire, shooting dead two of the robbers, and wounding another.
Here's the catch... the robbers were "armed" with pistols that shoot *BLANKS*, yeah, those handgun replicas that look like the real thing and fire blanks.
How stupid you can be?
NOTE: Unlike in the US, shoot outs are rare in Spain, and unlike US policemen that empty a magazine into a suspect, Spanish police make a single warning, and if the suspect fires back, usually only one shot suffices to put him out of action. The Guardia Civil is traditionally known for its good marksmanship, wich makes this incident even more of a folly. _________________ Memento audare semper

Ummm....that's not that stupid, IMO. I happen to own a Airsoft handgun that fires 6mm plastic bb's and is impossible to tell differently from a Beretta M9. I don't think they would of waited to check for bullet holes in their cover before they began shooting back, since they're all still alright and especially considering their "elite" status according to you. Human instinct points toward's self-defense in this one, and they followed procedure with the warning and everything. As for the gripe with just wounding one and not even hitting two others, well, everyone has a bad shot once in a while, there's too many intanigbles that come into play to make a judgement on that one anyways. The other two, knowing they were completely and royally screwed, surrended themselves. What's the point your trying to make with this one?

I think he was trying to say that the people with the fake guns were idjits for getting into a shooting match with police armed with real weapons. Although I could be wrong?

Exactly Alexander.
The moral of the story was: how stupid you have to start a firefight with *a toy gun* being outnumbered and outmatched?
Ares, sorry, you got it completely backwards. Do I express myself so badly in English? I thought it was obvious!

*blink* oh...my...God *smacks self* Now that I re-read the article, I took that completely backwards. I was having kind of a bad day, and I took it to mean you were ragging on the police for that.
wow. It's not that you expressed yourself poorly, the structure of it was flawless. I just seriously dropped the ball.
