Criteria for The Epics. Hard to explain what an Epic song would be, just like it would be hard to explain what an epic tale would be. Usually these are songs that tell a story, or just feel huge. SOme songs will be long...some wont be. Its just things that I feel are...um...Epic I guess. Due to the nature of these songs, it is unlikely a pop-rock group would make it into the list, due to the nature of what pop rock is. Thus, most of these songs will come from Prog, Prog Metal and Experimental bands...

"A Change of Seasons"
Dream Theater
Length 24:23
From Change of Seasons

"Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence"
Dream Theater
Length 41:58
From Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence, Disc 2
Note - Seperated into 8 Tracks. Song was originally written and produced as one long song, not meant to be taken seperatly. It was split up so fans could jump to their favorite parts. There are actually about 20 pieces of music within the song, if you know how to seperate the different movements.

"When the Water Breaks"
Liquid Tension Experiment
Length 16:57
From Liquid Tension Experiment #2

"One"
Metallica
Length 7:27
From "...And Justice For All"

"Atom Heart Mother"
Pink Floyd
Length 23:44
From "Atom Heart Mother"

"Shine On You Crazy Diamond Parts I-IX"
Pink Floyd
Length 25:42 (Not sure on full length of both main tracks...but this is what mine is)
From "Wish You Were Here"

"Echoes"
Pink Floyd
Length 23:28
From Meddle

"Sysyphus"
Pink Floyd
Length 13:27
From Ummagumma

"Interstellar Overdrive"
Pink Floyd
Length 16:52
From Tonight Lets Make Love in London

"Bohemian Rhapsody"
Queen
Length 5:57
From - Not sure what album actually...

"Gargoyles: Angels of Darkness"
Rhapsody
Length 19:02
From The Power of the Dragonflame

"Chance"
Savatage
Length 7:49
From Handful of Rain

"Morphine Child"
Savatage
Length 10:12
From Poets and Madmen

"For the Love of God"
Steve Vai
Length 6:03
From Passion and Warfare

"The End"
The Doors
Length 11:42
Not Sure on What Album

"Fire Down Under"
Artist: Electric Light Orchestra
Album: (Unknown)
Length: Approx. 5 minutes?

Sorry, I'm at my other comp right now w/o KaZaA. That one's just off the top of my head, my dad loves ELO and that song just has an overwhelming, operatic feel of emotionally-charged highs and lows to it.

As far as I know ELO doesn't have a song by that title. The do have one called "Fire On High" off of Face The Music

The longest one that I know of (and apparently, it's in the record books as the longest) is a song called The Devil Glitch, which clocks in at almost a full hour. However, I haven't heard of it in so long that I've forgotten who did it.

As for Metallica, I'd also put To Live is to Die, Bleeding Me, and possibly Call of Cthulu (even though it's insttrumental) on the list.
