==Overview:==
The Strike lives up to its name. High speed and decent armor allow the Strike
helicopter to close and deliver its 8 Rocket launcher 15's to bear on nearely
any target.
==Capabilities:==
Intended to get in fire on its target and then get out, the Strike can make a
pass on a ground unit at a staggering 183 Kph. To ensure survivability the
designers gave the Strike essentially 1 main weapon system. 8 Rocket launcher
15's comprise the weaponry of the Strike. Able to deliver a staggering 120
missiles on one target or it can stagger the launches. But with no reloads the
Strike must quickely leave the field of battle to rearm. To save weight a
Standard fusion engine was used instead of the I.C.E. engine, and to keep
costs down, the designers chose the standard fusion engine instead of the XL.

Everything yours has but speed, i even addedd a box of cookies.
please remember, i don't post counter designs to steal your thunder i do it to show you i can be done a different way.

oh btw just realized i had forgotten to say so but nice work. everyone who gets a responce post to there machine, good or bad, from me was atleast worth responding to.
its not what i would make, but then i posted what i would make.
i just do not addore the idea of fusions in vtol's. not when the same idea can be done with an ICE with minor changes.

Nice job actually. They are both so fast they are silly. I tend to steer away from I.C.E because in campaigns its just one less resource to worry about. I am trying out a bunch of different designs with the different. When I start it I start the design with a idea of what I want. Ill start out with the I.C.E. engine and then I will try to get my weapons mix that I want. after that I will look at my armor. If the armor is Ok then Ill leave it. If not I tend to either alter speed, if I have a speed profile that I dont want to change, I will alter the engine. This was one of thoes. I wanted the higher speed and the weapons load, and the ICE engine wouldnt let me keep the ultra high speed and the same high damage output.
As Ive said before I think the LVL 3 VTOL rules should be adapted over to LVL 2 and made to be standard.
As it is though I think a lance of either is going to decimate a mech lance, and either make it off the board or die trying to leave. With both designs being a little over 1.4 mill each Ill take a full lance or 3 and harass a company of mechs till they are either destroyed or force the mechs to retreat. I think that 120 or 150 missiles comming in on most any mech is going to heavily damage it or destroy it outright. And with a +4 (going by Lvl 2) to hit Ill take the chances.

If you have a one shot weapon you want to be able to get the hell out of there FAST the extra speed of the fusion engine model that stinger posted means that he has a MUCH better chance of getting out of range of return fire than the I.C.E. engine one of Vagabonds there is an expression that I think can apply to the design philosophys of some of the people here "penny wise and pound foolish" the I.C.E. engined version is about 200,000 C-Bills cheaper but if it is a smoking ruin on the ground because it could not get out of range in time was it really more cost effective?IMHO some people are trying build so cheap that they give up too much in performance and end up with a cheap deathtrap.

One of my problems with Rocket Launchers is that by virtue of their design they're OS.
Personally, I think that you should consider varients that are armed with LRM and SRM racks. Maybe have one LRM unit and one SRM unit to two RL units. This way, the LRM unit can provide cover fire for the other three. Then while the RL units make their getaway the SRM and LRM units can cover them.
Sound like an idea?

i never design a unit that is cheep at the expense of survivability. unless of course i'm making a unit that is such, like my conversions of the Sherman Tanks.
if you notice, because of a drop of 2/3 speed i upped the armor by a notch. still 9/14 is plenty damn fast to skirt on board then skirt off board. your just being redicules on what is FAST ENOUGH to survive. this vehicle is only 3 hexes slower at max speed then his, has a larger weapons load, more armor, AND AND mines an Omni.
all achived using an easier to maintain engine.
There are certain points that i will not cross. i don't design for bottom line. i design for effectivness, yet keep these designs within the Universes Construction Conventions. Not everyone can effectivly build XL engines, and frankly it pissess me of that the damn things are so prolific in personely created mini-empires.
They require rair rescource types, require special construction facilities, and take more time per engine. Fusion engines ain't much better. Ya the major houses have tripled there construction numbers in less then 20 years after 300 years of dark ages. This does not mean that everyone has access to these things.
Periphery Nations and IMHO all home grown nations should have limited fusion access, almost no existent xl access, and large amounts of ICE access. on that same note, ferro-fiberous and endo-steel should be rairly used in such places.
its not a matter of cost, its a matter of beleaveability.

Actually if you look mine is a built in the inner sphere and is NOT for a personal empire. It is for general sale. As is most of my designs. Especially the inner sphere designs.
The mercenary unit I run does NOT produce anything themselves, Every thing is leased or bought outright. In the case of the Apache, we have been under contract to test them and will have the option of buying them at the end of the lease, returning them, or renewing the lease. The COMPANY THAT MAKES THEM CONTRACTED US TO TEST THEM. Now I cant help if you think that is muncy or if it pisses you off. I have no control over that. But realize that my designs are not for a private army or empire.

| It was clearly directed at me .He has his views I have mine .Differances in opinion is what makes life interresting .as I have stated before I have ferro-fiborous skin I am not going to loose it over a simple differance of opinion and I think Vagabond knows that. A lot of what I post will not fit in his campaign universe ;no big deal.I will continue to post my stuff and invite opinions and I will continue to voice my opinions as well this forum exists for that purpose and if you cannot handle criticisem you should not be here.
