This is where educators get the crap called whole language, and why most American kids can't read properly anymore. We wonder why our kids are stupid compared to rest of the industrialized world, and duh! it's because we don't teach them how to read past a 3rd grade level!
Sorry, I just spent the past 3 years working with "dyslexic" students, and most of them had no problems other than they were taught whole language reading. We taught them phonics and they did just fine. Go figure: teach a kid to read a langauge by the rules around which the written langauge was developed, and they can read. It's so logical that the educators can't grasp it.

agreed, I'm a perfect example of this. when I was 6 they thought I was dylexic but I just couldn't read. They taught me phonics and it worked. now if I could just get past my other little problem I'd be good to go, it's impossible for me to put my ideas onto paper, I can tell you what I think, and can type what I think, but I just can't write it. They're pretty sure it's a rare form of Dysgraphcia. but frankly it doesn't matter anymore because all of my assignments are typed out now

I read in Time once that 87% of all people diagnosed with dyslexia were mis-diagnosed.
I don't know if that's true, but if they are only half right that's still a huge percentage.

I'm not convinced that it's true... I think the brain recognizes the word and places the letters in the right places before reading
it's just like decoding... obviously, is easier and faster to read when it's properly written
wonder if it's still true in the case of Spanish.. I would check it later _________________ Memento audare semper

Heck with phonics, you can usually figure out the word's meaning and figure out words you have never seen before. It probably helps spelling too, since breaking down a word is something done all the time.

It doesn't work too well except with basic stuff. And of course, people who mess up their letters might not have those first and last letters right...

I went on a date to a foreign film with a dyslexic girl once. It had sub-titles and we kept banging heads......

Say what?
Just kidding. That's kind of interesting. I guess I'll never use that as a form on encryption.
