So I asked style, now it is time for type.
AWAD- If it does not last a year, then it is not a campaign

I used to play nothing but 1v1( . . .v1v1v1 . . . ) because thats all I could get my friends to play. Now when I get to play, generally once a year, I like to have lance vs lance games or scenarios. Scenarios are quite fun when they are well thought out and equipment is balanced.

When I can convince chihawk to play it's usually a frm of 1v1. We set either a weight limit or a BV limit and need to select any 4 'mechs (usually Inner Sphere only) that fit in that criteria. Than we secretly select an order to bring them out onto the board. It starts 1v1 and when an opponent dies, the next 'mech starts in the same place where the other died.
Lots of fun, but chihawk hasn't had much luck lately.

We play level one or limit it to mechs in the 3055/58 RS book or earlier and I usually win...I haven't worked out effective tactics for the new equipment yet.

The VooDoo Crew plays scenarios many of which are within campaigns. We currantly have a trial of absorption by the Hells Horses against the Fire Mandrals and a Diamond Shark invasion of the Marian Hegemony going, additionaly we have Trials of Possessions for various things happening all the time. The settings are in the mid 3060s and we do use book level 3 rules, mostly MaxTech with some THB

Excuse me? Do you remember the last time you actually won? Because I don't. You better start working on those tactics, because playing you is getting boring.

Like I said, the tactics I use don't work with the 3067 tech...

The cool thing about the books, especially the older books was they had a point system to win; so wiping the enemy was not the only way to win. What made them good is they had many different requirements to win and it also had wounded units. I have seen with the old and new books some scenarios are very unbalanced. The rolling of dice made some of the scenarios playable more than once, and gave them a twist. Also they did have some cool new units and ideas, even though it did introduce the ghost mech from the Kell Hounds. That really did a lot of damage from munchkinism.
AWAD- Soresons Sabers was a good set

Maybe, but from what you've posted I know my tactics would destroy everything you can build

I've always enjoyed scenarios. In fact, when Casey and I used to play, we would often outline a campaign of say 10 collected scenarios to flesh out the campaign.
Most of our scenarios were decidedly unbalanced and the idea was often to decide when during the scenario to get the hell out of Dodge. At the end of a campaign often you would take so much damage on useless scenarios, that you would not have the muscle left for the important ones.
We even used to run a few of them at Total Con.

Yep, and I have the Virgina BT Scenario book you guys put together. I really do wish you'd run more at the Con. Bring back some of the old, good stuff! heck, I remember one of yours was the first I played at the con. Nothing like kicking the crap out of vehicles with a Puma! (I think that's what I was piloting anyways)

I've played all the game types that you mentioned except for the MW campaign. which is because I haven't got into the MW aspect of the Battletech universe. _________________ Steele Industries:
