deathshadow or whomever, why can't I login to your forums? I get the following message from both my home pc and my work pc:
" We encountered a problem. The reason reported was:
no open proxies allowed
This is not necessarily an error. If you feel this is an error then it could be something as simple as your browser not being set to accept cookies. If you feel this error is a problem with the server then please contact marauder@classicbattletech.com and let us know what exactly went wrong so it can be fixed as soon as possible. Otherwise, please use your back button to return to the previous page. "

Mordel... are you using a proxy to connect to the site? If so, you'll not gain access to it. This is the result of one single person that continually circumvented our security while using his job's resources (he works for Charter MI). Consenquently we have been forced to block Charter MI's IP address from access EvilNet. We were forced to use these draconian measures because this person would not quit. Even his ISP failed to respond to anything we asked and proved.
Our new security measures includes:
No open proxies.
No free email address to register with.
No one who uses Charter MI will be allowed to use the site.
All because one person took it apon themself to violate the law because he believed none of our rules applied to him and he could do whatever the hell he wanted too. So this freaking schmuck is out on his ears now. And should he break it again, we'll more then likely visit him in person and explain it to him in a more graphical explanation. We do know exactly where he lives including his home phone number.
I'm sorry about it, but we had to protect the site and the users. If you can connect to the net without a proxy you'll have no problem getting to the message board and site.

Yes, I do use Charter, so you've apparantly blocked everyone who uses Charter, not just people in MI. I'm pretty sure when I connect through work there is a Proxy. But at home, I have a router, and that's it. No Proxy. But I do use Charter.
It is a big shame, because you are essentially limiting your site to a VERY large number of people. I think you should've gone after this person right away. Make an example and set the precedent so if others try it, they know what to expect. All that was done is now others know they can push the envelope.
It's very unfortunate, because it means there's one more reason for me to not go to CBT.
