This announcement is to announce the formation of the Committee for the Preservation and Legalization of Ocelots.
This issue is one that needs a champion! I shall save this species! Already I am drafting legislation for the House of Representatives for the formation of a preserve to save this wonderful species (and word!)
Just thought you'd all like to know. I'll tell you when I mail this to my rep and then you guys can all call YOUR reps to support the bill! Thanks.

You, good sir, need a hobby... and not the ones you're pursuing now. You need one like girls and fast cars, or cars and fast girls...
But really, Ocelots? Just big outdoor housecats! Hungry outdoor housecats...

Well we'd probably need a few. And I was thinking that these perserves could be sort of like zoo/museums and could be used to educate the public in big cat issues.
Some of the best Zoos are in Florida and Georgia (there maybe more, I'm still researching). I would recommend both of those as sites: both because the facilities are there (which would cut costs) and climate.
I would also recommend Texas. i don't know what the zoos are like there, but there are already 120 (estimate) Ocelots living in Texas, so it makes sense to keep them as close to their natural habitat as possible.
Each region should probably have a perserve at some point, because that would help with the education (of course, just regular big cat conservation programs could be used instead, if there aren't enough ocelots).
My major inspiration is buffalo farms. That is helping save the species, and we should do the same. Ocelots serve a very important function, as most cats do, and they are a unique and important part of the American world (by American I mean North South and Central America).
The main problems, as I see it, is money. A lot of people like these animals, and big cats in general: tigers, lions, siberian tigers, etc. Ocelots, with such a unique name and cuteness factor, should be no problem for PR purposes.
But funding will be a problem. I'm sure this will probably grow beyond a few million, but hopefully it can be kept within reasonable budget concerns. Thats why I want the initial preserves to be set up near or on existing zoos, because the facilities will already be in place, as will training.

Throw that on the list then. I'd also recommend Boston/New Hampshire/Vermont just to start the regional ones going.

| As long as there are still humans dying because of lack of food as the agriculture in their countries has been modified to produce cheep foodstuff for the yankee's, so that the yankee's can consume it themself or to sell it with high profits to other countries, i see no need to save a few oversized cats

So are you insinuating that people in other countries are going hungry because of Americans?

Hey Mex,
You should check your facts before you shoot of your keyboard.
The world has produced enough food to fill everyone's belly since the late 40's. What has caused hunger is the lack of power to preserve the food, leading to spoilage and political situations preventing its movement to where it was needed.
During the 80's and 90's in Ethiopia and Somalia food was spoiling on the docks while people were starving inland.
So maybe you can put all those little cats on treadmills to generate more power or use them as hit squads to take out warlords who prevent trucks from bringing food to the starving.

| This is correct but you overlooked a simple truth behind the obivious:
Why was not enough money there to distribute the food to those that need it to survive and why did petty warlords prevent the distribution of the food ?
The answer is that there are always INhumans who value money and power, which are two sides of the same coin, more than the wellfare of their brothers and sisters !
These INhumans are usually called capitalists and all they are interested in is to get more money
Have you ever asked yourself from WHERE this additional money is coming which they want to add to their treasure ?Quote:

| First i am talking about YANKEE's and not Amerians in general. I know that there are a lot of Americans which dont even reach the living standard which is usual in my country.
But in the USA the yankee's, which are already very rich and get richer while most other peoples are getting poorer, dominate the society.
Just look what the yankee's are doing to the people in Irak right now !
They dont even care about the american soldiers which loose their lives in Irak fighting for the investments of the yankee's.
This doesnt mean that the case against Saddam and his followers isnt just. But dont you remember who helped the Irak to develop chemical weapons and atomic powerplants ?
Fist the yankee's made a lot of profit selling machines and other goods for Saddams warmachine. Then they made a lot of profit selling the Americans new and better weapons to replace those used in Irak. Right now they try to control the Irak with their big international corporations to make even more profit from the natural resources of Irak and the reconstruction of what was destroyed by them in the first place.
Of corse the yankees's exist in other countries too. In Europe during the time of the Hanse they were usually called "Pfeffersäcke". Today they are simply called capitalists as our politic is usually dominated by parties which have evolved from guilds and labor unions.

Perhaps you should stick to the term "capitalists" then when making your arguments. Whenever I see "yankee" I think baseball. I think game 7. I think heartbreak. I get mad. You don't want me mad.

| I am sorry about making you mad
For me yankee has nothing to do with sports, exept bookmakers of corse
By the way, my little brother is a member of the Invaders, a American Football team in a little town near Vienna, so when i see "invader" I think football
When i think about yankee, i see the the time of the american civil war, where capitalists in the north cared about the laborers in their factories even less than the capitalists in the south aboth their slaves

The problem with that argument is that sort of thing happens in EVERY country. There's not a country out there that hasn't abused its workers at one point or another in its history.

| That reads as if the workers are the property of their country !
From my point of view, the country is the property of the workers living in this area
