Well, I have to give it to whoever is in charge of the Btech novel line for re-releasing these gems. I've always been among the first to excoriate most of the Battletech novels, but Robert Thurston produced a supurb science fiction trilogy here. Well worth reading, even for those who are not fans of Battletech. Actually, these books always reminded me of Ender's Game, especially the first one.

FASA (may it rest in peace) did have some serious scifi talent writing for them. This trilogy was/is amongst the best produced in the Battletech line. (Just my own thoughts)

Unfortunately, it was about the only good Trilogy produced for the Btech line, with the exception of the Gray Death Saga, and possibly Wolves on the Border. The rest was rubbish.

Aye, much battered, but often read, and well-enjoyed.

William H. Keith (aka Bill Keith) also wrote a series--well two novels--about undersea warfare in a much nearer future.
The books are Sharuq and Stingray. It's about sub-fighters. Pretty realistic, darn cool. If more 'mech combat took place underwater, I'd develop this idea for Btech.

I agree. The Jade Phoenix Trilogy were among the first Battletech novels I read. They are good sci-fi, with enough plot twists and character development to get you into the story and get you involved in clan society.

and lets face it....Joanna is the epitome of the hard as nails Clan warrior. Even though Aidan and Marthe get all of the kudos Joanna is the one you have to respect. It's kind of a shame she never wins a Bloodname. She certainly deserved it more than most.

| She has gained even more than a Blood name: she is mentioned in The Remembrance

Interesting idea MEX...I would be more inclined to think that gaining a bloodname would still be of more value as your genetic legacy lives on forever.
The Rememberance just allows your deeds to live forever.
Kinda of a tough choice as to which one would take.
