Overview
The Red October was developed by pilots stranded with their machines shot up during the Lyran invasion of their world. Pushed back almost all the way to Mikhailgrad in the islands of the Sea of Tranquility, the pilots of the 356th Air Defense Wing managed to scrap together a number of small planes equiped with stripped down autocannons and disposable rocket systems. Although not much to look at, the Red October allowed the pilots to participate in a fight they should have been forced out of by overwhelming Aerospace superiority.

Since the war, the Red October has actually been officially introduced into the Imperial Russian Air Force, and its pilots are specially trained for fast ground support in areas where the skies aren't supported. These brave pilots are being asked to put a lot on the line, but the volunteers continue to outpace production.

Capabilities
The Red October has one mission: move into a territory quickly, blow the hell out of any opposition forces, and get the hell out before Aerospace forces can respond. To illuminate this goal, the Red October is provided with one weak gun, and a lot of rockets, but only one volley. The Red October also has a small fuel tank which does not give it the staying power necessary to duke it out in a dogfight. Even the armor is light!

But with fairly high speed, and friendly ground forces, the Red October can do its job. However, many in the high command of the IRAF consider this machine to be nothing more then glorified suicide. They point to the high attrition rates that the 356th suffered while using the machine, mostly because of a lack to defend themselves.

Deployment
Currently the Red October is only deployed with IRAF. Most other nations cannot convince their pilots to touch one with a ten foot pole.

Rock on, this is very well done. VSTOL, Some punch, decent speed, and a long range pop gun.

Speed to get in and out of some trobule, RLs to make somthing sting, Pop Gun with range to soften as you move in and move away gants..... like the Cessna or maybe a light mech, and can support for any where. One thing, drop AC/2 ammo in half and give it .5 more fuel. It is a one shot fighter so give it range or "dogfight" time with a little extra fuel.

actually what i was thinking was just twenty rounds into the LAC/2 (using fractional accounting) and the rest for fuel. but this was one of my off math days so my brain was dead. Smile
