Yes I know they are high price tag but I was more interested in making a truly fearsome version of the Clan Atlas. They are a Hybrid design produced by the Wolves in Exile and the Kell hounds. And my biggest concern is the lack of Heat sinks for both designs. and the LG Pulse ( a weapon I am not to enthusiastic about, same with the RAC, sorry don't like em)

Anyway let me know what you think. I think I prefer the UAC 20 version but not to sure.

None. I don't think a pack of cheap mercs and the tattered remnants of a clan should be building mechs in the first place. They should be buying things, or stealing everything that's not bolted down. They shouldn't build assault mechs with expensive XL engines, clan tech and level three equipment.

Ok, the A is Better in my opinion. It has a big gun and the ability to get close to people that really need the pounding.

I agree with Nightmare. I don't like either.

I chose the B Varient, for the ability to reach out and touch someone. The A Varient has to many short range weapons.... I don't like assault class city fighters.....

I am a big fan of the Atlas to begin with, so I like both of them. I prefer the one with the uac 20. I college I used one similar to that. You should have seen the look on his face when he found out that both rounds hit. Even assaults get seriously hurt by those. If it was an open field battle with long ranges I would have to go with the second version to use the range of the gauss.

Well as far as the reality goes I am just following the universe as it sits right now (although I personally agree, Guess It could be a Novacats design *shrug*)

But as far the the WiE go. I thought I read that Ulric sent most of the remaning wolves with Phelan, that included the scientists enginers and most anything that wasnt nailed down. All that remained with Ulric and Natasha was the Crusader element of the Wolves. Or roughly 2 Galaxies. Its been a while since I checked their writeup in the warden clan manual so I may be completely wrong.

That would be the reason why I do not pay much attention to the histories. I would rather just kick some mech butt. Most of the lances I have played with would not fit with the whole 'history' of the BT universe. Besides when you only play every once in a while it becomes dificult just to remember the rules, let alone the history.

I like the UAC version, double tap that bad boy when you want to get the final kill shot in. the LPLs and LRM give you the reach to close to UAC range and then 'POW!! Right in the kisser' with the UAC.

I like B myself. The UAC is an ammo hog to get the damage. you get similar damage out of the gauss without the heat or ammo costs.
The gauss allows you to avoid the heat spike, and allows you to use more weapons close in too. you get more damage overall.

In a city I would take the A version of course.

I personally prefer the A variant. I know there's a simple strategy to dealing with such short ranged weapons, i.e. staying out of range. But most people often end up wandering in sooner or later. Until then, the Atlas has the skin to take the hits. Once in range, I find that AC/20s generally allow me to level my opponents. If I don't kill them, I will most likely knock them down so they can't get away.

In one memorable battle, the enemy took my Atlas AS7-D for granted. Not a threat. Bad mistake. Once they moved in range in the lance on lance battle, I spent three turns, headcapping three 'Mechs with a single AC/20 burst each. It was amusing to watch the final 'Mech skitter every which way to avoid ending up like his friends. It didn't last, eventually there was no where left to run...his final moments were up when I cored through his chest with the AC. I have no idea why, but the events above are somewhat common. I have a few weapons I get really lucky with, and the AC/20 is one of them.

All I have to say is...the Jade Falcons should have wiped out that band of surats years ago. The Kell Hounds have always been at the top of units I despise...they just get too lucky. OK, they were OK in 3025 when they were fighting Yurinaga Kurita or whatever that guy's name was...but the whole Phelan becoming a Khan of Clan Wolf thing was just rediculous.
