Why, why, why must every single new mech I see be a 100 ton, Clan monster? Why musht they all have 1 gauss rifles or 50 MPL and a TC? Double heatsinks galore when just learning to fire weapons for optimum ranges and heat work just as well? What ever happened to just a good medium mech? What ever happened to mechs being designed and played as though it would be needed for more than one battle? Why are there 100 new mech factories popping up daily? Why are there 50 new pieces of equipment?
Why do I let this bother me so?

My sediments Exactly! We need more Mediums than Assaults.

I never liked Mediums they could never carry anough armor to take hits and have good speed. We need more heavy mechs, the work-horses of the BT universe.

And Heavy's could?? Not enough speed. Heavy Medium and Light Heavys are the best balance in Armor and Punch. That's what we more of....

Too bad the predominate thinking is Heavies are good and assaults are better.
I think the three biggest problems came from:
1) Double Heat Sinks
2)XL engines
3)Gauss Rifle.

My last three design posts have been mediums. And I agree. More medium mechs the better

Ive always believed that a poor pilot will select an Assault when a heavy is needed.
A Heavy when a medium is needed.
and whine when a light is needed.

I'm telling you guys, as soon as I win the Powerball, I'm buying BattleTech outright. Then things will change.
Oh yes, things will change.

Love the meds and lights, the lighter heavies are fun too. Assaults are no fun unless your hopelessly outnumbered and you like to go at it like Butch and Sundance!

Pinhead, that's definately the truth. I used to hear whining all the time about the use of lights......I love lights and Mediums....

To me, the thing about the new technology is to balance out the munch quotient with common sense. I actually ran an idea by Ronin the other day (a one-of-a-kind prototype heavy that did 4/6/4 with DHS, TSM, Bloodhound, Angel, and a PPC w/Capacitator) just to make sure that it wasn't too munchy. DHS are fine provided that people don't go overboard with slapping on other technology. As it is, I think that the fact that they take up so much critical space compared to regular HS that this alone could/should be prohibitive.
