non-combatant? If it is on the field of battle it can be hit. In a scenario with repair trucks on the field of battle they are secondary targets. Why let the enemy re-load? Get them while they are vulnerable.

Ahh the bell curve issue. That is the problem. +1 is not bad if the base is 4,5,6 but once it passes that +1 becomes a targeting issue. That is why +1 in this system is harsher than +10% in a percentage system. So I know FASA/Fan Pro is looking to balance the weapons but +1 is brutal, to the point should never be in a jumping mech with a green or regular pilot with the helmet on.
SO what can be done so they are not muchy weapons, or trash, but can still be a pain? -2 to the missile chart? Means it really drops the damage potential but not the hit. Or split in half RL10, roll 5 chart twice. Hard to get max but on average you get center over all. Or keeping the same but -1 to both rolls, reduces damage curve but hard to whiff badly. The later adds more complexity but might work. Or the final idea is to make the +1 at long or medium range. So S/M/L might be 0/+1/+2, meaning they are point blank and after flying awhile they start to go astray.
So once again, RLs on Bubba's Truck, or VTOL, Conventional fighter, and the Periphery specific mech only. Still not great but it is a fluff weapon.

I seem to recall people mounting RLs on choppers too. It's not like you want to hang around and wait for the opposition to get a lock on you anyway, so one-shot weapons are a good idea there. The +1 to-hit hurts, but you can always choose your targets. A RL-armed chopper that manages to sneak up on a stationary fire support unit can do some serious damage.

Its the challange, Oaf. I mean, how good do you have to be to hit a moving target thats shooting back at you? And how much of a pansy are you to shoot the loader next to a mech, touch off the ammo, and blow em both to pieces. No fun, no honor.

At least it is realistic; from all I have heard of these weapons, they remind me of the Katyusha. The Soviets needed to deploy thousands of them.

I would rather use a medium laser for that purpose. You get more shots out of it, and it does not explode.

Clanner Scum Bag. War is not a battle of Warriors but a malestrom of destruction. The will, force, and desire of a leader and people backed up by politics, industry, culture, religion, and blood thirsty bastards. You never understood that. Still blows my mind clanners look down at Solaris duels. Solaris duels are a microcosim of Clan warfare.
AWAD- No honor in war, just victory, then you can salvage your humanity

Ah, but the Solaris spectalces are also a picture of the Inner Sphere, too. Save that clan warriors fight for their clan and heritage. Its true that 'alls fair in love and war', save that destroying a helpless foe is dishonorable. Tell me that Kurita was correct when he orderd the death of every living being on Kentares IV. Tell me how much 'honor' Jinjiro earned with those three words, Kill Them All.
But I digress. I just dont see rocket launchers as beeing worth it on a modern battlefield. Perhaps in a guerilla campaign, with several ammo dumps, they could be usefull, but id still rather have a good LRM launcher.

Nice retort. But as I said victors then can salvage their humanity. The loss meant the Kuritan's could not. Also it meant the various systems I mentioned were not strong enough to deal with mass murder. So since Jinrio lost, no honor, if he won? What would the statement be?
But back to the weapon system at hand; I agree a LRM is much better and preferred. But for fluff reasons and actual stats it works in limited situations. That is all I am saying.
Plus it adds more dimensions to the game, both fluff and number crunching.
AWAD- Going to get me a shot gun and kill all the clanners I see (name the song/movie and replace the word clanners

Unarmed foes? Who do you know that would drive a reloading vehicle into a combat zone unarmed? If you can show me one , then I will show you an idiot. Support personel have always been considered part of the combative force. Just look at how many baggage trains have been attacked in antiquity. Wars have been won and lost on the supply line. But I digress.
If you are playing BT as a complete similation, then LRMs are great if you can afford them. For the rest of the small time defense forces, rockets are a nice replacement, if a bit more inaccurate.
