Ok, I'm ready to start my online merc company.
Rules as follows:
Each player gets 75 tons IS tech to start with, divided any way they choose, and can use custom mechs, just not ubermunhies. The mechs have to be compatible with the tech capabilities of MegaMek, which means that you can't use Arrow IV, but can use rotary ac and heavy gauss. No clan tech at start of campaign. You will be facing the clans. If you are interested, please PM me and make either a Drawing Board, Battlemech Designer 9.71, or Mech Engineer Pro (all available for d/l here) file of the mech/mechs you want to use, and I'll get the MegaMek files for them created. You will be able to mod your units with any salvage and pilot captured clan mechs. Any questions post em in this thread.

Most of the time I will run the clan units by myself, but I do have one friend who will help when he has time.

Well, I'm thinking we'll do 3056 which means you guys need to additionally limit yourselves to tech available by this time---so no RACs or H Gauss after all sorry, didn't come up with a year setting until this morning.

Additional Rules:
CO will be determined either by random dice rolls (inside MegaMek) or by a couple of simulator battles, whichever the most players agree on.
Players will make the dice rolls for their pilots in the main lounge upon first log in when we start the setup.
C3 is Allowed, and encouraged. As is TAG and the LRM missile boats to support the TAG.
I will make all technician skill rolls and such, however for rolls such as dropship, jumpship, and the unit commander will make them using the /roll command in MegaMek, or in some cases the alternate form of /roll 3d6, or /roll 5d10.
We will have Max Tech Pilot abilities as allowed by the MegaMek code.
Floating Crits will be set to true.
We will be playing in double blind and blind drop modes.
Also will use several other max tech options and other level 3 rules, but only because they are more realistic and the computer makes them just as fast as not using, unlike if we were rolling by hand.

Well, since only 1 person has decided he'd like to do this so far, he becomes the defacto unit commander. However, I'd love it if more of you join in, just PM me and I'll let ya know when next game is scheduled.

Since we just got back from the convention, I only just saw this. Can you elaborate on exactly what will be going on? When will we be using MegaMek to do combat? Will it be 12 v ?? How long are the games expected to take?
I am interested. I need some way to maintain my fix on BattleTech.

Sorry, been meaning to post this...just takes Mordel's interest to give me a good kick in the rear hehe
Ok, playing on weekends, Saturday and Sunday both 1-3 hours per day. Any unfinished games by the end of a session get saved by myself and anyone else who wants to save em (always good to have backups ). If you cannot play in a session I will adjust the opposing forces accordingly so that whomever is left does not get stomped into oblivion. To be completely honest a lot of things, such as setting contracts will have to wait untill next weekend when we do first meeting. I was looking at starting at around 2 or 3pm on either day, but if everyone can let me know what times they are available I can work it out to get the most players on, since my weekends are free. NOTE: Times are in EST as I live in Michigan I'm willing to work with just about anyone who wants to play. I'm also planning on using some utils I just got off the PRI website to facilitate contract generation and unit management. Also got some really good random opposition tables to work with. Whomever the unit ends up working for, and facing I'll try my best to give the game fair odds. I have a custom system for pilot advancement also. At the end of each scenario I'll award expericne to each pilot (I'll keep track of it in a notebook here at home, as well as in a text file on my server and another on my laptop), it will cost 8 exp to raise gunnery and 6 to raise piloting. Also for advanced skills such as dodge maneuver and such I am putting together a exp chart also. NOTE: I will try to keep pilots alive by rolling for survival on things like destroyed heads and such, for example say your mech has a Clan ERPPC take it's head off, I will make a roll and determine if the pilot survive (the shot shaved off the front of the head or something) and also if they survive to determine how injured they are. Injured pilots will sit out a number of scenarios as specified by the difference by which they survive, see chart.
Pilot survival chart

Roll result (minimum survival on an 8)
8 Life thretening injuries, make a roll next scenario to see if survives.
9 Very serious injuries, sit out 3 scenarios
10 Serious injuries, sit out 2 scenarios
11 Moderate injuries, sit out 1 scenario
12 Minor injuries, will be healed by next scenario
A pilot may rejoin combat sooner with pilot damage equal to the number of scenarios they have left to sit out.

I will be keeping detailed records of every single character in the unit. Each warrior will have his own plain text file and any info related to him. Feel free to make up background stories for your charachters, in fact that is encouraged. Also I'm having a bit of a contest, The unit needs a name. Anyone can enter, however unless Mordel wants to award like 5 credits to the winner only those who are PCs will gain anything . Deadline for name submission is Feb 26 at 5pm EST. At that time I will start a Poll topic in this forum to have everyone vote. Poll results will be tallied at 12 Noon on the following Saturday. Please do not submit a name without at least a short background story--do not include detailed info on the founding member as that will be filled in by the PCs when they create their charachters. PM me with the name and story. As a sidenote, I will roll 5 replacement warriors for the unit in case any of the normal PC's are WIA or KIA (if the PC is WIA then the replacement will only fill in until the PC is healed) This pool will be kept at 5 pilots, so anytime one is moved into the unit full time (replacement for KIA PC or piloting salvaged/purchased unit) I will replace them.
A note on maps. You will likely need to download a map(s) file prior to some scenarios as I plan on creating custom map sets for some engagements.

Ok, had someone email me about using a custom designin this campaign. You are allowed 75 tons divided any way you choose to start the scenario, including custom mechs. I accept mechs for the following editors, all available for download here:
BattleMech Designer 9.71
Mech Engineer Pro
The Drawing Board 2.0.XX (I use 2.0.23, but any files from version 2.0.10b on will work)
I do reserve the right to veto any mech, so if you create a custom something too ubermunchy I will disallow it's use. This is at my discretion.
Note on submitting your custom mech to use, I need it by this week friday by 8pm EST at the latest so that I can convert it to native MegaMek format in time for this saturday's game!

Here's a second contest for any of you that are artisticly inclined:
Using an editor of your choice create a 2 inch square cammo pattern for the unit discussed in this forum. Deadline for this is Friday March 5th by 5pm EST, at which time I will start a Poll on all entries recieved. With such a small image size, the details also need to be kinda small. For image format please use .jpg extension jpegs of medium to high quality. If you need an image editor, I use The GIMP http://www.gimp.org which is a free program on par with adobe photoshop. You can thank linux for this baby, although they do have a windows release now.
