When Designing a new mech or customising a current one. Which wieght class do you prefere?
I would go with the Mediums you got everything you want, speed, good firepower, armour and the space to mount some good weapons and electronic hardware. You get the biggest variation in the Mediums.

Judging by the amount of custom 100 tonners on the net if assault doesn't win this poll then people are lying.

I like Lights. Sometimes I'll do a Medium or Heavy...

I like mediums and heavies. But it seems I can do better the heavies than the mediums.

I design all weight classes, but my favorite is Heavy. Medium is a close second, but they have to be fast mediums. Here's a kinda ratio chart of how many i design of each weight class, its in Light-Med-Heavy-Assault format:
2:3:4:3
Thats just a rough figure of course, but it fits with what i design for the most part.

I have not done much custom work. I only have 5-6 custom mechs. They are all either lights or assaults. I have found that those are the easiest to design if you are just playing around. Either superfast pests or big bulky munch machines.

I like lights just because there are a lot of things which have never been done with 'em. 5/8/5 lights are pretty rare, so I've been putting together some lately.

Umm...favorite weight class...hmmm...
Don't have one really.
I love to tinker around with designs..I have two whole notebooks full of mods and new designs. A couple may pop up soon one's a Zeus mod the other a new 40 tonner I designed like 11 years ago....yeah I feel old too hush.
I tend to work with lights and heavies more than assaults and mediums...how's that?
I also Like to work with the "Objective Raids" book to figure out where I can get the parts needed to make the mech so I may alter my optimum design because of part supply problems. Yeah I'm anal sometimes too. _________________ If ignorance is bliss, then why are you so miserable?

This should be a surprise to nobody I like fast mechs which means lights in fact I build a lot of ultra lights (10-15 tons) I build a few mediums and have a few assaults that I assemble as pill boxes with legs but approximately 85% of my mechs are Lights and ultra-lights

I like to design both mediums and heavies. Just because mediums should be more numerous I'll vote for them.

Well I like designing Mediums more than Assaults but most of the mechs I've posted haved been assults.

I find that heavies have the best balance of speed, armor, and firepower. I don't mess with the 60 to 65 ton range, though. Its a waste of time IMO. I think 75 tons is a good weight for a mech.

I voted heavy, but I do any many mediums as heavies. Assaults and lights are less interesting.
BTW, I figure the old statement from TR:3025 about mediums being the most common 'Mechs probably no longer applies in 3067. It seems more heavy designs have been produced in the intervening years. We certainly have a plethora of new heavy designs. (However, we have no production numbers, so this is just guesswork.)
Anyway, counting the total designs in production in some form or other in the IS as of 3060 or so (I never did the math again after 3067 and TR:PP came out), we have 67 light designs, 64 mediums, 76 heavies, and 52 assaults. If a design is produced in more than one factory it is counted multiple times. It is unlikely that all of these are being produced simultaneously, but we just don't have that information.

I like designing in all weight classes but prefer Assult.

Heavy... they allways seemed the "quintesential mech" to me... you can do a lot with them, making them fast attackers or heavy brawlers...
