THE-N Thorn
HSR 200-D Hussar
When were these two designs introduced?
I have the Thorn pinned down to between 2375 and 2399. And the Hussar as sometime before2630.
Can anyone find out the creation times of those two? And some reference would be helpful. _________________ If ignorance is bliss, then why are you so miserable?

I tried to find a certain mech list I've seen, but had no luck. It was a fine list too, showing what tech was introduced when and on what battlemech.
These comments are just from looking at the designs in HmPro.
The Thorn fluff suggests it was introduced in "the late 24th century", but that can't be true, can it? Mechs were invented 2439...
As for the Hussar, the newer fluff says 2630.

Do you have the Star League TRO?. It should say in there. If you don't let me know and I will go digging for mine. Actually that will give me an excuse to go unpack my older BT stuff.

Star League TRO
"The Thorn is an older Battlemech design, incorporated into the Hegemony Armed Forces during the late 24th Century. It was the first Mech to incorporate the Endo Stell II Skeleton."
"The HSR 200-D Hussar is one of the most widely used light recon mechs within the Star League Defense Forces"
No mention of when it entered service, but it does say that the Hussar earned itself fame for skirting enemy lines and monitoring the enemy and mentions an engagement in 2630. Mention is also made that the Hussar replaced many fast scout vehicles in the SLDF and was originally built to provide close infantry support (though it lacks defense against infantry).
And Star League Sourcebook
"On February 5, 2439, the first Battlemech recieved its baptism of fire on a desolate series of steppes near the North American city of Yakima. The Battlemech, a joint effort by more than 20 of the best weapons manufacturers in the Hegemony, was tested against four ancient Merkava heavy tanks specially fitted with remote control devices. The commander of the Battlemech was Colonel Charles Kincaid."
My old stuff is already unpacked.

I have the Star League TRO. And it does not say.
It does say:
"The Thorn is an older Battlemech design, incorporated into the Hedgemony Armed Forces during the late 24th century. It was the first 'Mech to incorporate the Endo Steel II Skeleton. ..."
As for the Hussar it doesn't mention at all when it was introduced but gives a battle acount for it's reputation.
"The Hussar earned fame for it's success in skirting enemy lines and monitoring the enemy. In 2630, during a series of rebellions on the Lyran world of Woton, near theDark Nebula, the 51st Hussar Regiment of the XXX Corps was called in at the request of Lyran officials. ..."
It was obviously a mass produced model prior to this date if they have a regiment named after it and comprised mostly of it. But it mentions not when in either this TRO or the 3050 TRO _________________ If ignorance is bliss, then why are you so miserable?

The comment on the Hussar is from the TRO3050 revised, I'd think. They changed the texts on the old Star League mechs slightly.

The hussar comment was from the 2750 TRO. Not much help from the 3050 TRO either. It wasn't in there. POO!! _________________ If ignorance is bliss, then why are you so miserable?

No, they changed the texts between the TRO 2750 and the TRO 3050 Revised. Or so I'd assume. The HmPro mech list contains two instances of the Hussar HSR-200-D. The 2750 has fluff entered by Dave and Dan Welch from TRO 2750. The 3050 has fluff entered by Rick Raisley from TRO 3050 (revised, I'd think).

I think I have to lay off the pills because if I can count (sometimes doubtful), then the Thorn came off the assembly line prior to the first battlemech.
That or the technical writer had one too many essprosso beans before writing the Thorn's description.
Has any one looked through the older version of the Comstar manual? Perhaps it might contain some little tidbit. It has been awhile since I read it.

well, TRO 2750 has no actual date for the Hussar HSR-200-D and only references to the actions of the 51st Hussar Regiment, XXX Corps in 2630.
TRO 3050 revised states "Originally designed in 2630 by the Star League Defense Forces...." so there is a solid, if somewhat odd because of extremely quick deployments, release date for the Hussar HSR-200-D.
The Thorn on the other hand does state that it was first relesed in the 24th Century in 2750, in 3050 revised no date or era is given.
