Okay I did a one-on-one by myself with my Falconer vs Havoc's Wolverine from a campaign Ralgith is running via MegeMek. After going for 23 rounds with a lot of hopping about and missing with weapons we were pretty hurt but there was no clear winning mech. When on the 24th turn we were in a possition 2 hexes apart and facing each other, I decided to hit an alpha strike. Well turns out he did too and he blew up my gauss rifle which took my arm off. Then he got some good crit rolls and blew my engine. My salvo took out both of his legs and when he fell he landed on his CT which took a crit and it was an engine hit. His roll for the engine damage indicated that it's fail-safes failed and the engine exploded killing the mech and pilot. The Victory went to the Chicago Cubs, my mech went into the graveyard, and the Wolverine went to the unsalvagable pile.
I was laughing too hard to do anything for a little bit but sheesh that was funny. _________________ If ignorance is bliss, then why are you so miserable?

lol. Two for the price of one!
I unfortunately have to report that I too tried the one-on-one and groups against each other. While the outcomes varied, one thing remained constant; my Wolverine blew the Falconer to bits either through crit hits to the ammo or engine or with a head shot (twice) killing the pilot. Mind you the Wolverine also got the smack down by the Centurion a little later.
LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

I don't know how to load custom designs into MegaMek but I have been playing with the designs that are in there a bit. One thing I've noticed is that when I face a jumping mech, they always jump, every turn. Isn't there a rule in Btech about jumping? Not sure been a while since I looked it up. I had a rule we played by as any jump capable unit can jump up to 3 turns in a row then had to rest for the same amount of turns. Same applied if he only jumped one turn or two turns in a row..he had to let the jumpjets cool down and recharge for the same number of turns they jumped. _________________ If ignorance is bliss, then why are you so miserable?

Hmm... I've never noticed that about jumping mechs...
If you want to use your own designs in megamek, you can use the drawing board program to create mechs and save them in the megamek directory to play them.

There is no rule regulating the number of consecutive turns a mech can jump.

There is no rule that regulates how many turns a mech can jump in Btech. Considering this, the Megamek AI is taking advantage of the rules as many players do.

Do you have HMPro or TBD? If you have HMPro just save the mech to /megamek/data/mechfiles.
If you have TDB you'll need it to be version 2.0.23 and save the file as an .xml in said directory.
If you do not have either of these, you will need to make a .mtf file. An easy way to do this is to take a prior existing mech from the game and modifying it in a text editor, i.e. notepad, wordpad. You can pick up an .mtf equipment list from the megamek site on sourceforge. It is in the data section.
Any more queries?

I thought yo had to have HMPread, if you dont this will save me alot of space and time in the longrun, not having to make a coipy of the mech in HMP and then for MM making a seperate in in TDB.
