This 'mech looks sturdier than the old Warhammer on paper, because of the increased armor, but in practice it will drop more quickly because of the XL engine.

Umm..-Mud, have you play tested this mech?
I have and it performed very well. I played it against a stock 3050 warhammer in a best of 3 and a battlemasre in a best of 3. It never took an engine hit in those 5 matches. _________________ If ignorance is bliss, then why are you so miserable?

I find that kind of hard to believe; it's always been my experience that an XL engine on a slow 'mech is a giant glass jaw.

The XL nets you enough tonnage to really improve a mech for the purposes of one-on-one combat. This variant is tough enough against one opponent, or hanging back as a supporting unit in a lance-vs-lance battle.
Not that I think it's worth the cost of an XL engine anyway... The -7M should be quite good enough, at half the price.

Hell no I don't. Engines are expensive enough as is. I totally screwed a 6R warhammer the other night with an engine hit; the mercenary command it's attached to will have a hell of a time repairing it. I'd have a field day with a 7X. Just launch a bunch of SRMs at it and wait for the inevitable engine hits.

Then play it and let us know how it went.
btw...play it fair, don't set it up for how you want the results to go. If you can't be impersonal in a battle trial, you can't be trusted in battle. _________________ If ignorance is bliss, then why are you so miserable?

I would, but I've got a lot of other games i'd rather do. Right now I've been doing some experiments with fortress and city warfare; lots of rubble, hidden infantry, mines and urbanmechs.
