Ok all I want to know is which mech you would use for each of these tasks, or can be several.
1) Advanced scouting
2) Hit and Run attacks
3) Ambush
4) Fire Support
5) Attacking IS assaults and heavies
6) Attacking Clan assaults and heavies

For a lot of these I'd use conventional forces, or combined arms.
1) Advanced scouting
Hoverscouts, Swift-Wind Scout cars, VTOLs, aerospace and dropship/satellite overflights would probably constitute the bulk of the assets I'd deploy here. Light 'mechs would be reserved for impassable terrain.
2) Hit and Run attacks
Locusts, Locusts, and more Locusts...provided they were available. Otherwise, VTOLs and Hovercraft would be the order of the day.
3) Ambush
hidden infantry
4) Fire Support
LRM carriers and tanks, fast artillery carriages, and traditional fire-support 'mechs for high intensity situations
5) Attacking IS assaults and heavies
artillery barrage, followed up with bombing runs. then my own assault and heavies move, supported with heavy tanks and bombing runs if possible. I'd try to assume a defensive position, so as to be able to set ambushes
6) Attacking Clan assaults and heavies
Same as attacking the IS assaults and heavies
