I just got out from seeing The Punisher, and at best the movie is mediocre. As a revenge story the plot just does not work well. I do not want to give away the plot, but many of the plot points just do not make sense for a guy who is serious about getting revenge. Should you watch it, you'll understand. Added to this is lack of direction this movie seems to have. Its like the writers could not decide whether or not to make it a serious drama or a cheesey action flick, and so tried to make it both. The whole effect is not good, IMO.
The movie is not entirely bad, though. When it finally gets around to the action scenese they are well done and creative. The acting is also good, and for once the side characters are there for more than to spit out punch lines.
If you are looking for a good comic book action movie I would recommend seeing Hellboy instead. If you really desire a revenge movie than I recommend renting Mel Gibson's Payback. Finally, if you do decide to see this movie, don't go in with very high expectations.

Agreed. I have yet to see it, but one of my friends did and that was word for word the review they gave.
Speaking of revenge, has anyone seen Kill Bill Vol 2 yet? Any information on that at all?

Judging by the lines I saw at the movie theatre, Kill Bill 2 would probably be a better choice than Punisher. I've heard good things about it.

Expectations shouldn't be high if John Travolta is involved. How many bombs has he been starring in by now? And how many times have they thought he was finished as a film star?
I'd like to see The Watchmen as a movie. If someone could pull it off well, of course.

Can you imagine the scandal that would cause simply by the sheer volume of parents thinking that they're just taking their kids to another superheroe movie.

Better, by far.
