==Overview:==

Free Worlds League designers were recently made aware of vacuum fighting, specifically in defense of space-based mining operations. While the Shadow Hawk SHD-5M had a good weapons package for that use, it also carried an XL engine that tripled the risk of catastrophic damage to the mech. The engine was changed to a FWL-produced DAV 220 and the weapons setup changed for a new approach. The AC was switched for not one, but two LB-2X ACs! This gives the 5V the power to strike at targets first, possibly gaining a crippling hit. Both ACs are torso-mounted, in the same type of mounts the SHD has made famous through the years. The short-range weaponry was also redone: two Streak-SRM4 launchers coupled with two ER Medium Lasers in arm mounts. This allows for a deadly barrage at close range. The only weakness in the new variant is the fact it holds all ammunition in one location. The ammo is protected by CASE, but the 5V will still be forced to withdraw if the location is breached.

Nice way to work up something to correspond with the Vacuum Combat thread

Why not use an LB-5X? The range isn't as good, but you can get more hits on the target with one LB-5X than you can with two LB-2X.

Yeah by dropping the two LB 2Xs I was able to get one LB 5x with Cluster and Slug ammunition, an LRM 5 with Artemis IV (one ton ammo) two Streak SRM 4s and two medium lasers.

4/6/4 speed, endo steel internal structure, and the same armor as you.

Slightly more scarry cause you can throw some slugs at them if they are light and really cause worries, or pepper them and when they are missing tons of equipment, finish them up with heavy slugs.

Killing people with AC-2s is more humiliating, that's why!

Not that I'd see anything wrong in going with a LB-5X and something else, like the original LRM-5. It's probably how they'd do it anyway.

The two AC/2 arrangement does have one virtue I'd overlooked however; a single hit would disable the AC/5, taking all of your long-range potshots with it. The AC/2s would be a bit harder to knock out.
