Okay, who here is old enough to remember gas lines and rationing from the early 70's? Anybody remember the economic effect it had on the late 70's and early 80's? Carter administration? Malaise forever?
I think we are in for a flashback to those "wonderful" years.
Let's see how things were then and now...
In the 70's we had terrorist organizations operating in the boundaries of the United States. Anybody remember Patty Hearst and the SLA?
In the 70's big cars with V8 engines were popular.
In the 70's we were involved in an unpopular land war.
In the 70's we had a president under fire for disreputable actions.
In the 70's OPEC had raised the price of oil and slashed production.
Oh wait, we're already having the flashback.

Oh, we got that a few years back when a new mega-gas station came into town and tried to undercut all the other gas stations. For about a month or so the prices were between 50 and 80 cents per gallon!
