while running my d20 star wars rpg today [uses 3e dnd] i ran into a situation where a char was crawlin thru a engine access tunnel.
he had just been informed about these tasty little creatures [stole the face huggers from aliens].
it was pitch dark, cramped, and he had only a mini-mag lite.
he possed his spot check and i told him he noticed movement in a side passage. but do to it being dark, he didnt see exactly what it was.
now my question is, did i set the difficult to high. dc 15, modified by concealment [dark], cover [side alley], and size [well picture the facehuggers.]
so total= dc 15+ conc 4+ cover 2+ size 2= dc 23
was it to hard?
now fyi, he asked to identify, but then quickly said he was gonna shoot it.
so i didnt get time to finish my action, then tell him it was wires before he blasted it.

Right on the money, With it being dark. And he only have a mag-lite. And not knowing about the creatures. 23-25DC is about what it should be.

We did that once. We had Aliens, Facehuggers, Predators, Terminators, all that cool stuff when we played SWRPG back when it was still 1st edition from WEG.
