This is for something sci-fi that I'm doing.
If you had to pick a spot to house the first colony on the moon, where would it be?

I would place it on one of the poles so that you could have full solar exposure and could keep your solar array in sun for the full month instead of two weeks on and two weeks off.

I'd set up a power station at the poles, but put the base in the Sea of Tranquility, cause it sounds so tranquil and nice.

You would need to put in withing view of the original apollo capsules. Tourist traffic is everything.

The easiest place to land? The best position for dumping stuff back to Earth? Somewhere I could build a huge mass driver?

The main colony itself (the name for it will be Desert Moon) will house the main military facility for the moon, the main spaceport, and eventually a sizeable city. I've also set it up so that "in close proximity" will be another colony (New Provo); aside from a small garrison it will be completely civilian and will most likely house people working at the main colony.

Trust me, you don't want to name the other colony New Provo, unless you want them to be looneys. (Hey, I think I just made a pun!) You haven't been through Provo lately, have you?
