Liao,
I actually like the catpharact over the Mad anyway, and a Catapult, and two vindis should be able to take 3 enforcers fairly handily.

As much as I like Davion I have to go with the Laio forces in this one.

If this matchup was played as a true Davion vs. Liao engagement with pilot experience reflecting the units involved, then I would have to agree wit hSir Henry, that Davion would win. However, as a generic matchup, even though I am one with the Marauder, I feel that House Liao has the better lance combination. Having the Catapult as fire support and the Vindicators as flankers makes the Capellan lance a tough nut to crack. The FedSun lance would have to close in fast and keep it tight t offset the range advantage of the LRMs and to maximize to minimum range penalties of the PPCs and LRMs.
Mud, you are coming up with some good ones. I will have to run this one too.

Personally, I feel that if one of the Enforcers can get inside of the Catapult's LRMs, it could bag the Catapult. Dealing out 18 damage each round, those things are like pocket Warhammers.

Sorry but the Marauder is an over-rated mech imo. With rather weak side torso armor the Marauder can be taken down easily if taken seriously. The Vindicators are the work horses of the Capellan military and are very effective designs in a number of roles.
And the loses of the Capellans to the Davions are also attributable to the vastly different sizes of their militaries. The Davions had a hard time taking more Capellan worlds after it became easier for their military to respond to attacks because of shorter distances between borders.

The Cataphract's armor is no better. The Marauder and the Cataphract essentially cancel one another out. Neither has any real advantage over the other in damage, heat, speed, or armor. I'd say the MAD-D holds a slight advantage, as it carries no ammunition, but the Cataphract has fewer guns with a minumum range.
The Vindicators are nice 'mechs, but the Enforcers are equal to or superior in every aspect except for range. The Liaos do hold a possible edge in the Catapult, but it only holds eight rounds of LRMs, and LRM boats are always vulnerable once you close the range...especially if you do it with a Marauder.

Usually, but this LRM boat mounts 4 medium lasers as backup weapons. The 20 point damage potential is not to be over looked. The enforcers have a 21 point damage potential within 3 hexes and they only have 10 shots with their AC's.

There isn't much armor differential though. I'm not denying that the Catapult has an advantage, but both 'mechs should be pretty banged up by the end of it all. The Catapult is also more vulnerable to ammunition explosions.

Am biassed for the Marauder, it's taken good care of me everytime I've used it. However I'm not too fond of the Enforcer. Vindicators have a bad rap and they are good mechs.
Besides, never been a Federated Sun's fan...
Choosing Liao on this one...

An Enforcer is more than a match for a Vindicator...although Vindicators are decent 'mechs, but the Enforcer is a pocket Warhammer. I still don't know if they can drop the Catapult though...I think I'm going to run this scenario sometime this weekend. (i hope)
