Im getting some strange E-mails with Mordels name on it. I was just wondering if anyone else is as well? There is no text message other than.
"For security reasons attached file is password protected. The password is ."
The Password is actually IN the document header It is usually a 5 or 6 digit number. Now since I havent been expecting you to send me a e-mail I am suspecting these are a VIRUS.
Any info would be helpful though.

do not open that.
that is a standard virus method and mordel would just PM you if something was up.
Yes, PM mordel and warn him. i'll im him ASAP.
Warning to all other Mordel.net users do not, repeat do not open such files. alert mordel ASAP.

Just checked my E-Mail nothing so far I will alert you when and if I get such an E-Mail. It might be a good Idea for others out there to let him know whether or not they get such an E-Mail It could help track the source.

Just delete the e-mails...they probably contain a virus and they aren't coming from Mordel.
If you get one don't PM Mordel about it as that won't do anything...

Yeah that is what I figured. I sent him a PM but figured I should post something here just incase. I figured they were a Virus.

I've seen that one before, but I don't remember the name. Yes, it is a virus in the zip file. The virus is spoofing the From line of the email so it is not really coming from Mordel. It is actually coming from someone who has Mordel's email address in their address book. That should narrow it down.

Those types of virii are running rampant these days. Sounds like Sobig or Blaster by the sounds of it.
I've been having a laugh because I've been getting them coming from, according to the address at least... myself. Fun part is the message delivery path (yes, I read my header infos) shows it originating with an AOLuser.

I think thats what they call 'phishing'. They send you an email that looks like its from someone important, it routes you to someplace that looks legit, then they start slipping stuff onto your HD.
I made that mistake (Hi, Im Darkadder, and I am a moron) and now I have some blankety-blanking trojan horse hiding in my .dll files.

Do you run antivirus? What about stuff to catch spyware?
If not there's lots of free stuff to help get rid of stuff like that...

AVG (anti virus free download)
Spywear (Freedownload Anti-Hacker)
Adwear (freedownload Anti-Hacker)
AVG is a great one recommended from here by a few IIRC. My friends and I use the 2 anti hacker programs because the overlap and one will catch stuff the other dosent.
What is sad is that we need all of this ljust to enjoy the internet.
Hmm Mabey its time we looked at capitol punisment for the stupid people that insist on writign these viruses and hacker programs..
(Just finally got one of my computers back up and running after cleaning over 2000 hacker files off of the computer so Yeah I am a bit bitter)...

I use both of those, but I've never heard anyone ever call them "anti-hacker"...they catch spyware....
