... Ronin signals to chihawk that he wants to order a drink. Before chichawk can pull another bottle of IBC Root Beer, Ronin stops him.
"I need something stronger than that... I just got some new orders."
"Anything you want to tell me about?" asked chihawk as he looked for the ice cream scooper.
Ronin lets out an exasperated sigh. "They deactivated my squadron. Yeah, I was the only surviving/active member, but heck, you take on the Clans and the Wobblies and everything else like we did, and see what happens!"
A grunt of sympathy comes from chihawk as he opens the freezer. Ronin looks up and points to the vanilla ice cream, out of all of the available flavors. Chihawk gives him a quizzical look, to which Ronin shrugs his shoulders.
"It's not like we weren't getting replacements... we got some new kids in training right now... they should be ready in a few months. But no, they have to go and take away my squadron!" Ronin continues.
Chihawk finishes scooping the ice cream into the frosted mug, and pours in the root beer. "Spoon?" he asks Ronin.
"Thanks."
"So now what are they having you do?"
"Well, they've assigned me to a new squadron, effective as soon as we case the colors on the Bachelors. I'm getting moved into the Wedded Bliss Squadron... they tell me it's actually a move up..."
"Aw heck, what am I moping for? Free drinks on me until I change my squadron patch!"
OOC: I got engaged recently  , , and as soon as we can wrestle the calendar into submission, we're getting hitched. So if I'm a little sporadic in my appearances here (like I haven't been already  ), then that's why.

Welcome to the time that fun forgot. All those things you used to do for fun (carousing, drinking, partying, farting on command) are all things that you must now despise or be forced to enter the horrible land of "cold shoulder", or the even worse place known as "Sleeping on the couch..."
Take it from me, a veterna of many campaigns in those two hostile regions... get used to it... nothing you do will change the fact that you will get posted there.

Thanks, guys! Especially for the advice!
Speaking of which, any advice on how to maintain the good graces of the new CO while still having my Battletech and other games around. Not that I have much time at all for them anyway, especially now, but I'd rather not give them up completely unless I needed to.

Very simple...for couples to last, each must be given their respective space. You have your Battletech every Thursday night, she has her tea with her friends every Wednesday. But make sure you have something you can do "together" (Friday and/or Saturday nights).

Make sure that you tell her ( communication is of extreme importance) that you do not wish to discontinue your battletech playing, hopefully she will be understanding as I'm sure you will not require or demand f her to stop doing something she did before now that you have decided to be together. And cherish your time TOGETHER!! You are getting married with her and to her. Be her friend, lover, confidante! And understanding what the other wants, hopes for, and needs. And in all things love honor and respect. for her and yourself. If you can't respect yourself, you cannot respect her.
I am on my second marriage. My first was for the wrong reasons to the wrong person( I was young). I have found my soulmate someone I love with respect, understanding, and passion! It warms the body in the dead of winter, brightens the dreariest of my days, and make sme bring myself to a higher level in everything I do. She is my everything.
I sincerely hope you have found the one person you were meant for, may your life be full of wonder and passion; and may you spend the rest of your life discovering the love and beauty that is your dearest beloved.

Hmm, well there's an idea. She's a drama teacher after all, so she knows about acting out a role and doing improv and stuff... maybe I can work this angle some more. Then again, I've heard that it's not always a good idea for couples to be in the same gaming group, especially if one is the GM. Then again, it could be a pretty good way to bond and share time. And when the kiddos come, I'll certainly be passing on the legacy of Classic Battletech!

THat worked for me. We had our personal space on Sundays. She did her church activities and I did my Re-Enactment and Gaming activities. We alternated having the kids... Worked like a champ.
