Here is a different twist to my regular match-ups... a 2 vs. 2 comparison. The match-up pits two pairs of heavies against each other. One could even assign Houses to each pair. All are considered serious threats on the battlefield and I know some of these mechs have die hard fans to back them up.
I decided to pair the following together:
The Thunderbolt TDR-5S and the Marauder MAD-3R
vs.
The Orion ON1-K and the Warhammer WHM-6R
Each mech has well-known strengths and weaknesses, but teamed with another mech new ones have to be considered. What used to be a weakness may no longer be a factor when taking the other teammate into consideration.
So my question to you is: which pair do you think would be victorious is an open terrain fight? Would taking the fight into the city make you change your mind. It will be interesting to see how many of you stick to your favorite mech no matter which terrain is used and how many will vary their choice depending on where the combat will take place. Consider that all pilots are of equal caliber and the mechs are in top fighting condition.

Decisions, decisions, decisions...two of my favorite mechs on opposite side of the field...
I'll have to go with the Orion ON1-K and the Warhammer WHM-6R
The A/C10 of the Orion would be a deciding factor I would think and this combo outweighs the other.

This is a close one...but I'll have to go with the Orion and Warhammer, although the Thunderbolt won't go down easy.

So far only two responses and both favoring the Orion+Warhammer combo. I personal feel that the Thunderbolt+Marauder combo could carry the day in open terrain and the city. The Thunderbolt would come into its own in an urban combat situation.
Therefore, the tally is:
Thunderbolt+Marauder = 1
Orion+Warhammer = 2
Anyone else?

oohh, this is too close to call.
My money would be on the Thunderbolt carrying the wieght on that team.
I think it would be an even split, but i really like the T-bolt, so my moneys on those two.
I think the T-bolt and Warhammer would make an ace team.

OK Havoc, are you some sort of evil genius? These matchups are great. This one would really be a slug fest. Either team could conceivably win this one. Maybe with the 3 day weekend coming up Seraph and I could play test this one.
(btw push means that the advantage does not go to either team. now you have your trivia for today)

Here is the tally today:
Thunderbolt+Marauder = 2
Orion+Warhammer = 2
Both = 2
I would definitely like to see the results of this match up if Oafman and Seraph are able to play it out this long weekend. I think it will be a good fight.
