Can mechs mount them? It might sound stupid but I designed an aquatic mech (a little suprise in my new campaign!) And none of the designers let you have them on mechs.

I think you can, but they are usually useless on mechs since they cannot fire once you get out of the water.

LMTs are idetical to LRMs in everyway except they must befired underwater. LRMs cannot befired from LRMTs nor can LRMTs be fired from LRMs. in other words, yes they can be mech mounted.

I always understood torpedos as being a variant of the standard missile, or at least, thats what I gathered from the rulebooks.
Now, what happens if Im firing at a mech thats underwater, but Im on the surface? Say Im using an Archer on dry ground, and want to fire at a submerged sub. Would LRMs do the job?

You cannot fire regular LRMs into water. LRM Torpedos can only be fire while submerged in water, and not into water. Which means if you have an LRMT mounted on a torso and you are standing in depth 1 water, you can't fire.

It would be better if you could mount depth charges. useful on Omnimechs, they would be the equivilent of the thunder LRMs, just disperse water mines rather than land mines.
I was thinking of putting a 40ton mech loaded with TLRM's under water. The player has the option of travelling through a bottlenecked valley or through the deep water.
Obviously he's not going to go over the land, because he will expect an attack.
So can't Hovercraft mount Torps? I know displacement hull vessels can.

HmPro lets you mount torpedo launchers... You can't get more official than that.

Yes they can. would they be usefull? NO!
The rules stat that in order to use TLRM the weapon must be SUBMERGED. this means hovercrafts, displacement hulls, and hydrofoils in addition to torso mounted racks on mechs in depth 1 water cannot be used.
make any sense? no. is that the rule? yes.

Actually, the BMR says torpedoes can be fired from water hexes of depth 1+ into water hexes of depth 1+. It doesn't say anything about the launcher being under water. You just need enough water to get the torps down and running.

yes, FIRED from depth 1 water. as in, u need to be in depth 1 water and not on top of it. hover craft, displacement hulls, hydrofoils, and mech torsos are all at lvl 0 and not a lvl -1. otherwise not in that depth and thus not firing from it. there firing from depth 0.
i swear i remember this exact same discussion not 2 months back.

Well i'm still on a mission to buy it from the store!
I can't find anywhere else that sells it, but there is also a question of compatability. I'm pretty sure a US version would run on my computer.

If you are standing in depth one water and another mech is standing in level two water nearby you cannot shoot him. He, however, can shoot your legs. And unless you have leg mounted weapons you cannot return fire. _________________ If ignorance is bliss, then why are you so miserable?

Correct...under the rules in the BMR weapons fire can not break the surface of the water.

Rick has sold copies to people all over the globe and I've never heard of any compatability issues.

Is there a vehicle and aerotech version. Or can you use them anyway? I enjoy making vehicles. Also is there a program for infantry? Just want the basic sheets for them.
