Ok guys, need your help, i'm looking for a new campaign idea, its set in 3025 involves the player (davion) leading a failed attack on a Liao planet, with the forces scattered over the planet and only a lance to begin with, the player must gather as many of the men as possible and take out as many of the original objectives as possible before pulling out.
That is the basis, i just want a bit off filling in, a few scenario idea's or suprises i could give him. The player starts with a lance of IS mechs
-Enforcer
-WHM-7M Warhammer
-A davion medium
-A davion light
I'm not very good with house specific mechs, so any help would be appreciated. because we're going away for a week a campaign is an ideal way to pass the rainy moments.
Any help would be very much appreciated, he tends to be able to second guess my ideas for scenario's so lets suprise him! he he
Thanks
Wanallo

also in the light category: javelin
medium: for laughs you could try a Shadow Hawk SHD-2D; the dervish is another medium davion design

Liao had lots of Vindicators. They had Crusaders too, jumping ones I think. And Catapults. Davion I think had a fair number of Riflemen and Stingers, and Wolverines. _________________ "Those who beat their guns into plows will plow for those with guns..." -Thomas Jefferson

Yeah, I was thinking along the lines of the Dervish or the jagermech, I don't want him to have to good a team, i like it when you can build the play up.
I got the basic game idea from the MW3 game, its the best one in the way of managment and salvage.
Does either house use a Whitworth?
I'm also making one of the Objectives to capture a Starport so they can escape, but if they fail that theirs always the Davion rescue team,

whitworth is a davion mech yes.
i suggested the Valkyrie because it wasn't a GREAT mech. 1 flamer and 1 lrm 10 on a 5/8/5 chassie.
another good ok design is the BJ-1DC. 2 ac/2, 4 ml, and 2 sl.

Right, ok, picture this, I want the player to have a rival (the Liao commander ordered to hunt him down)
He will meet with him several times, and i want the Cappelan to have a really good Command lance,
I know Liao have the
Cataphract
Vindicator
Cyclops?
Longbow?
Stalker?
Trebuchet?
I think a Cyclops, two Cataphracts and a Longbow would be good, something to make the player back off until he has the strength to stand and fight, it also gives the campaign its 'chase' element. He isn't going to run away from a few locusts is he?
Another critical fact, Liao and Davion vehicles and things.
Thanks for your help guys, if i had the authority to give you credits, i would. But i'd probably get mordel and Chihawk chasing me in our own real life campaign!

What about a Dervish? Davion liked those things alot, even though they didnt have auto cannons.

House Davion, in love with Autocannons.
If you're nasty and don't mind playnig with Aerospace rules, get a couple of guardian conventional fighters. Liao created those little horrors.. _________________ "My job is to keep the majority of people in this country alive. That's it. Yeh, well AC's are my favorite weapons in the game, something about their destructive power, a stream of HEAP shells, not good.
Anyway, the Po and Hetzer are two good vehicles, the Hetzer esspecially good for ambushing. I would have a little mercenary team available for him just for fun. Give the davion a few exotic mechs, once i gave him an Annihilator!
It ripped through an urban centre defended by two lances of meds and lights and a company of vehicles with only a Catapault (srm variant) for support!
Then it ran out of ammo, and it got pounded! he he.

That's often the case with big ammo-dependent guns. Nothing funnier than shooting the enemy full of holes, only to notice you're out of reloads.
Well, it's even funnier if you run out in the first battle and get to search for more ammo. People often miscalculate the amount of ammo needed for a campaign. An Annihilator isn't doing too much good without AC ammo, is it?

Makes a good bluff. Only an idiot would get close to those things unless he knew for sure they were out of ammo. I would not take the chance. And if you carefully ration your shots, you can use it like a very nice herder. Make the 'Mechs move towards your other forces. And if they are stupid enough to stay, show them some true firepower. That should get the others moving.

I played it like that once, i had my own variant of the Gladiator, it mounted two UAC20's and a few LRM5's and a pair of ER large lasers, To make up for the wieght difference i ran most of the time, my opponent assumed it was a fast assault mech with long range weaponary (It had an excessive heat problem limiting fire). we trust each other enough to work out the modifiers.
He charged in with two hunchbacks, both fired and hit with their AC20's damaging but not penetrating armour. Then i opened up with the AC's! had to show my opponent the sheet two times! Both of the UAC's hit, with a total of 3 shells, two ripped one of the hunchies down instantly, cutting through the centre torso armour and causing two criticals (one engine one gyro). Then i used the lasers to finish it off, and secondary targeted the other. The single shell cut through the already damaged armour and hit the ammo in the side torso!
The gladiator's heat was on around 20 but the pure morale impact of seeing his two key mechs in ruins was worth it. His awesome and archer kept their distance, but the thing still stung them with its ranged firepower, and i herded them back into a pair of shadowcats and a packhunter. The fight was over quickly.
Speaking of which, the packhunter is suprisingly good in a city, jump it onto a building or one a long street and its sniping abilities come into play, a head shot finishes off anything.
