I was bored last night and i came up with this. Which mech makes the best sniper, looking at the characteristics for a mech sniper.
-Long range weapons (  is a good start)
-Jump jets (to get to vantage points)
-Speed to get out of scrapes quick
-advanced defence systems (ECM, AMS, etc.)
-anyone think of anything else?
And of course, which mech do you think fits the bill?

I've used the Wolfhound as a sniping machine against other lights. Doesn't jump, though. The Panther is always a good choice. I don't see why it would need any electronics except for a TC.

The Blackjack BJ-1.
Fits most of the criteria. Long range jump.. speed isn't too good.. but the jets ought to help.
Seraph's Blackjack BJ-X is also a good one in my books.

I saw a guy use a nest of Vindicators to carve up a lance of medium-heavies. When the slower mechs tried to move in and kill the Vindies, they jumped away, regrouped and started all over again.
Scared the hell out of me, mainly because it showed that for once, House Liao had a decent mech to its name........

Marauders are good snipers; it's the best use for 'em as their heat sink limitations generally limit their mobility anyway.

i've thought the hollander or the hollander 2
The reason i say electronics is because most sniper mechs forfeit armour for weapons and speed, so anything which gives them less chance of hitting you is useful
I like the Penetrator as well, duel ER larges are always good.

I don't find them great, their alright as snipers but not much else. I just like ballistic weapons, i would mount AC's over pulse lasers and ppcs any day, if the AC2 and 5 werent so crap! lol
