In case you haven't heard, BattleCorps has started up and is running. I put a lot of my own personal energy into that site, so to me, it's an accomplishment (regardless of what chihawk says).
So, I'm going to ask that all of you check it out and join if it seems interesting enough to you. Do a 1 month and see if it's worth it. If, after 1 month you don't like it, don't renew. Tell me you tried it and didn't like it, and I'll give you 1000 credits (equivalent to $10) that you can use to purchase something in the store (which I will be adding more things to). So you've got nothing to lose!!!
When you register, be sure to use me as a referral ID. Use FWL-0000 in the appropriate field. Enjoy. Let me know if you have any questions.
Or better yet, let me know why you WON'T be signing up! I'd like to know.

I'm a poor computer tech who works for food... I collect minis by selling my knowledge? Do you have a hired minion or indentured servitude plan?

I've said nothing about BattleCorps except that it's too expensive.
In fact I haven't even seen the site yet, but knowing how you do things I'm sure it looks great.

The site looks fantastic, except for one detail, its a PAY SITE.... some of us poor poeple have the choise of pay bills and starve, or use bill money to do fun thigs with and be homeless. I am sorry, until i can beg, borrow, manufacture (its a joke), or provide some invaluable service to some one for the cash, i am stuck in nowhere-ville.
Sorry Guys, i cannot say yea, or nea.
Furthermore, there are people that do not own a credit card, Bank card, or account for that matter, which leads me to my next statement. Paysites should offer a free entrance, or non-paying member gallery, and a paying member area.
IMHO

There's a way to pay it with paypal. But I gave it a try and it didn't work too well. I was expecting something like how it works on ebay and it turned out to be nothing like that, and thus too unwieldy to see much use. Also, doing it this way goes through yet another online payment outfit that would have charged me 5 bucks plus to do a transaction to pay for 6 months. _________________ "Those who beat their guns into plows will plow for those with guns..." -Thomas Jefferson

There's so much fanfic out there these days too that there's really no purpose for a site like this. The only things worth reading will be the Thurston, and I'm sure it will become available through "unofficial channels" sooner or later in any case.

Not sure how you can think this ...this is the official canon fiction, just like the novels...fanfic is not official...

I both can, and choose to feel, that fanfic is a thriving area of literature, and that the quality of the best stuff increases all the time. Just because something is "unofficial" does not mean it's of lesser quality or inspiration.
Let's look at the three major authors headlining this project.
1)Stackpole. The worst of the bunch. I cannot comprehend his popularity. His books are the most heavy-handed pieces of garbage i've ever seen.
2)Coleman. I've never read his books, but his story on Battlecorps was pretty bad. If that's the best teaser they could roll out...
3)Thurston. Good writer, but his best stuff is behind him now.
Whatever happened to William H. Keith?
I've said this for years...the people running battletech are of limited vision. My apologies to anyone associated with the capital O "Official" side of things. Having control of the copyright does not mean much of anything.
The one thing that seems promising about this site is the historical depth it promises to offer...which makes sense, as battletech's best years are behind it.

Stackpole isn't a major headlining author. He may be one of the contributors that will write from time to time, but he's not a major contributor at this point.
The fiction is actually rather good and there are some pretty good unheard of authors, just as I'm sure there are with the unofficial stuff.
Also, people are looking out for these works being taken and released elsewhere through unofficial, illegal means. If you happen to see someone doing this, let me know. Remember, I'm one of the designers there, so this stuff hurts me as much as Loren and the others if it gets out.
I'm thinking of putting 1 month subscriptions up on my Store. This will allow people who are unsure of it to give it a shot. It won't cost them anything. A 1 month subscription would run 1000 credits in the store. Would anyone be interested if they were there?
