I've decided to start a new thread for this discussion, just to get it out of the political threads.
***
One thing I'd forgotten about the Hindenburg; they found that the outer shell of the Hindenburg was coated with a compound similar to what is now used in rocket fuel. I'm sure you've all seen the famous picture of the Hindenburg going up in a massive ball of fire. That fireball was caused by the compound coating the outer shell of the airbag. When hydrogen burns, the flame is nearly invisible. There's information about this in the first link below
Here's a couple of links about the technology itself. It seems to me the biggest problem is not developing adequate safety protocols, but in developing a method of producing adequate amounts of hydrogen without creating other pollutants.

And I'm going to toss it into the regular "off topic" forum so everyone can paticipate...

I'd love to have that on my house.... Save me from going to the Electric company when the power goes out...
Because it won't.... When the Hurricanes come, I'd still have power....

They rolled out a hydrogen fueling stating in D.C. this week.
I'm sure it's operating at a loss; it's just a propaganda ploy.
I'll bet you $200 billion worth of research would help find an economical source of hydrogen...whoops, we just spend that loot on the Iraq war. We done messed up! _________________ "The enemy's gate is down."

| That statement is complete and utter bullshit and is irrelevant to the discussion because of its falsehood and should be immediatly deleted from this thread as it serves no usefull purpose and is a blatant attempt to perpetrate a lie so if a mod would please come along and delete that post and this one it would be appreciated.

Why? I'm sure the oil companies are quite happy if we don't try finding an alternative fuel source. And knowing GW is an oil man he's not likely to recommend any spending on hydrogen fuel cells.

He would if he could use it to help his political career... Like getting an Amendment to the Constitution to increase the number of times he could be in office....

Need I remind all of you this is the Off Topic forum, not the Saloon. If the political side swipes and conversations persist, I'll just delete the whole thread instead of move it back to The Saloon.

Yeah, but after chihawk moved it, you were the first one to make a political statement.

It's a political issue.
But you're right...I did step over the line a bit. My apologies. I'll perform surkai.

Political? That's like saying the hubble telescope is a political issue. Both are a science issue currently and the fuel cell is hoped to become an industrial/economic issue in the near future if aanother fuel sourcec cannot be readily available. _________________ If ignorance is bliss, then why are you so miserable?
