Each TRO review has a place where you can click yes or no, depending on whether you found the review to be useful or not. Does anyone actually use this?

No. Someone stating the obvious about a mech is as useless as can be. I'd have to call most reviews "useless", and what's the point in being negative to fellow patrons?

Ah, but some might find it useful when there's tactical advice on how to use a Mech. Or when a glaring flaw is pointed out in what might seem a fantastic design.
Bottomline is, not everyone's an expert.
The TRO helps novices and less experienced players.
Perhaps if more input on how one would use the Mech or what it should work with my help. Or perhaps battle history.

That's a useful review.
I meant the ones where someone just states what guns the mech has and points out flaws instead of saying what to do about it.

The thing is they are called Reviews, not tactical analysis'.
If ten people say, its a bad mech, then you can take it as red, its probobly not that good. If ten people say, needs more long range weapons. You should put on some ranged weapons.
Saying that i always try and give a bit of tactical advice. Just so i can prove that i have actually used the design. Nothing worse thansomeone saying...
'This mech is useless, It couldn't beat an locust, its armour is to thin and its weapons are crap!'
'Have you ever used the Marauder?'
'Actually, no, but it looks bad!'

I think the reviews are generally pretty useful and I read them, but some of the reviews aren't very good. Some of them do seem to be people looking at the TRO and reviewing it without playing the mech ever, and more annoying are the reviews saying something like "the mech should have dropped the medium laser to add more HS or armor". Well, this is a review of a design, not hints on min-maxing and optimizing, thats no fun anyway.

I like to read the reviews that people give my designs because they give a different perspective some (like the stuff from the SFE Mafia I do not put a lot of stock in ("It has an XL engine so it is junk") but a lot of them can bring up some useful points. different people have different tactical philosophies that can open up new ideas.
