So it loses the PPC for a large laser...if I recall correctly the fluff in the Original TRO3025 had something about the original Panther having a large laser instead of the PPC.
So who in the FWL did the conversion?

The Grimm Design group on Regulus...you can read about them in several of my custom designs in the tech readout...the Diablo, Jaegar, Grimm Marauder, Roadrunner, and Sabre are all Grimm conversions.

I quite like that, giving it an extra movement point for an exchange of weapons.
There has been an instance of a Panther changing its PPC for a LL, a ML and an additional HS - in the Solaris VII scenario in First Strike, piloted by Hohiro Tanaka.
Also, there was a "Grand Panther" published by that very magazine (Tech Factory) out of which you so kindly gave me the stats for the Deceiver.
It added another 5 tons, bringing it up to the medium weight range. It retains its old weaponry, gains the same movement profile that you have above and adds 2 tons of armour.
The most important site I used for this sort of info was Wars in the Inner Sphere. That has now been dead for about 2 or more years, but the most important essense is kept alive in this site:

Try here for a list of all of the older FANZINE and FASA lost mechs (some which will be in TRO3055 Updated) and have fun with them.

if im not wrong, the FWL never got PPCs until the later eras right ?
so this makes sense.

Really? I never knew about that one....
@ Karagin: well, we kinda linked to the same thing, right? Your link is wonderful, though. That was part of "Wars in the Inner Sphere". I *L*O*V*E*D* that site soooo much!!!!! That was the only other page that I was a regular visitor of. And then it became defunct. No, some of it was taken over by CBTList (my link above). I didn't know that a lot of the original pages of Wars in the Inner Sphere were still up! The main page sure isn't. But, look at your link! And two days ago, I stumbled upon Matt McLaine's (creator of WitIS) PC-games walkthroughs (for which he is infamous). They end after MW2, but hey, great stuff. I've submitted that one to the links section.
So, thanks for presenting me with some old greatness, Karagin!
