This is too slow to be an effective Arrow IV platform. A lance of hovercraft could seek this out and cut it to shreads. Building this would be a total waste of resources. Artillery needs to be mobile, or it's useless.

And I suppose a normal Long Tom is mobile? Not really. This is much more mobile than standard arty field pieces, and would never be alone. If that fast Hovercraft DOES manage to find the arty mechs, the mixed lance of lights & mediums left with them as guards would shred them so it matters not.

I wouldn't use a mech as artillery unless I needed to go where only mechs may go. The hovercraft won't be coming after it there.

Having the artillery mounted in a 'mech makes the "shoot and scoot" tactic all the more effective. _________________ Evil is like a bowl of oranges. Only one, instead, is an orange of DOOM. That orange has a fate to rule over the other oranges with an iron fist. That orange is me.

Just like Sniper doctrine in WW II, shoot 3 or less times, then switch locations. Arty Mechs are good at this type of run and gun loooooong range warfare.
Being able to move around a lot makes counter battery fire a LOT less effective.
