At least, according to Heavymetal Pro. It has a whopping 1.77 points of damage/ton of 'mech. To get the story on the original Gawain, you'll find it (and hopefully review it) in the TRO section.

Manufacturer: (Unknown)

Targeting & Tracking System: Sloane 220 Lockover System
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
Answering the Star League's call for a state-of-the-art heavy 'mech, Newhart
Industries introduced the Gawain for the first time in 2502. Twenty-eight
years later, the most advanced version of the Gawain, the 2R, rolled off the
assemly lines.
Some time after the Exodus, Clan engineers took a close look at the venerable
command 'mech, seeking ways to improve upon it.
==Capabilities:==
The IIC has been upgraded with a heavier long-range punch, with the Omega
12-Coil Gauss Rifle and MK 44 Missile System covering the extreme range, and
the Kolibri Delta Series Large Pulse Laser coming into play closer in.
Shorter ranges are covered by a pair of Series 1 Mk 3 Extended-Range Medium
Lasers and a Hellfire Series II Flamer.
Clan designers chose not to mess with success in regards to the electronics
suite, keeping the Olmstead communications array and Sloan Lockover targeting
system.
==Deployment==
The Gawain IIC is deployed almost evenly amongst all the clans, mostly in
binary or trinary command roles in the second line garrison clusters.

exactly. It pretty easy to get a 13/15 light mech with lots of ER sml lasers. Then name it as a scout mech or infantry support...

Yes, just equip it with a TC and as good a pilot as you can get. Run around the battlefield and look for an opening, then strike. Run up behind someone, target a back torso location and kill him.

But what do you think of MY 'mech? _________________ Evil is like a bowl of oranges. Only one, instead, is an orange of DOOM. That orange has a fate to rule over the other oranges with an iron fist. That orange is me.
