Okay if this is a Dragoon mech why use Inner Sphere tech? They have Clan tech and given that they can build Omnis why would they even consider building this when they can modify an Omni like the Koshi or Dasher to do the same thing...
I could see maybe a joint Combine/Fed Suns deal to make this but not the Dragoons.

The Dragoons still use a large number of IS tech i would beg to differ. As much as they are able to replicate clanner tech, it does not mean they have the resources to do so.
If they had the resources, their entire Zeta company will be clad head to toe with IIC variants and Daishis.
and Jaime would be piloting an uber IIC variant of the Archer.
Edit: IIRC Wolf Dragoons could only replicate the Uller and Daishi even though they had specs of all Clan Omnis that appeared in 3050. I might be wrong now though since that source book is pretty old.

True, but they can make Omnis so again why would they be building a whole new mech when they have the chassis and know how to fit what is on your mech on to something they can support for cheaper in overall cost.
Again this mech would be better suited to the FedSuns or the Combine in a joint venture kind of thing like the Gunslinger.

Uhmm you must have missed all of the stuff about Jamie, he is beyond needing an uber mech when he like Morgan Kell and others, have uber skills to make any mech do what they want.

They can make those as well as some of the others, and keep what they have running. Also why would they tie themselves to on outside soucre for weapons when they can make Clan weapons right there on Outreach...would make more sense for them to make all of the stuff there. And it wouldn't be unlike Jamie to trade stuff to Phelan his Wolves for needed parts as well as raid Clan held worlds for other stuff. If you note in the Gallowglas fluff it states that the Dragoons seem to be arming all of their IS mechs with Clan tech, so again when it comes to something new it would be more logical for them to go with the Omni Chassises as the ones that get made since it allows them to be very flexiable.
And if IRC they can make the Kit Fox as well, though I need to double check that one.

Kit Fox = Uller.
EDIT: While Omnis are indeed very flexible, can u imagine the resource to create a Daishi, as oppose to retrofitting an old Battlemaster with Clanner tech. Sure it would take 2 weeks of hell for the techs, but im sure Wolf Dragoons dont mind

Yes, even the Dragoons have to count money.
The scientist in the introduction to MaxTech says the FedCom can replicate ClanTech at horrendous cost. A Clan-spec ER Large Laser costs just the price of a whole BattleMech lance... The materials are truly SCARCE in the IS, and the specialized processes are expensive.

Which at some point they should have over come. I still can not understand why they greenlighted the RAC when they had this sitting at their door step.
Oh! that is right! They were run by someone that everyone hated (I still liked Victor), and when Stackpole left, the fed suns got screwed royaly by every other author. (not unjustly, TO A POINT, but I think they took his downfall a bit to far, and loved everymoment of it.)
But I have said it before and I will say it again. Why was Laio allowed to find and more importantly hold onto several Star League bases? If I was running the Fed Suns or Marik as soon as my spies found that out, the second weakest nation would have ceased to be.

way to hijack my thread
But keep the comments coming dudes
anyway i restate my points, yes replicating Clan Tech is easy for WD, Kell Hounds (well Phelan is Morgan's sonny), Davions and with Lyrans not so far away.
Its just the resources to obtain it, is so rare, not to mention WD and KH are still mercenaries. If a Great House like Fedcomm can wince at the cost of a clan spec ER Large, i wonder what do the mercenaries are thinking...

The scale at which the Dragoons are making Clan tech is much smaller then the FedSuns or Lyarns would be trying it. The Dragoons need to upgrade mechs, they really don't have to mass produce things to the point that whole armies are being refitted.
Yes they still have IS mechs but with Clan weapons, which for the most part came from stockpiles that were hidden with their little fleet in the Bristol star system. They had the plans for omnis and could have been building them since taking over Outreach, note they had it since the end of the 4th War and already had Omnis built when they were training the IS leaders kiddies on Outreach.
So say 20 mechs a year, along with more weapon pods, even the Dragoons can keep the cost down to a bare minimum and keep it a sercet, it's not like they were trying to build an army that could take on the whole IS, like the WoB seems to be doing, and folks knew the Dragoons were up to something, but having Hanse as a buddy, put the kabash on anyone doing anything about it.

Man the honesty that comes out after a few to many Spiked hot chocolates
sorry about the hijack there.
(BTW Hot chocolate and a shot of chocolate hazelnut Liqoure. Man you dont even taste the alchol till you stand up after finishing the 4th.)
Anyway, from what I remember of the novels (not cannon I know) the dragoons were able to resupply themselves, with clan tech along with the production of new clan tech. I may be wrong but wasnt the Dashi given to Horio and Victor new?

The Dashi given to both of them seemed to be new since they were armed as each requested and nothing in the novel Blood Legacy seemed to say other wise.
Now to repeat:
The mech is a decent one, I am just disagreeing with the fluff and think that it would be better fitting if it was a Combine/Suns joint venture mech...

they could. Remember they made many trips back to the Clan's worlds to resupply...
