What was your worst story with a mini?
Mine was with one of those plastic Mad Cats. One day, I had it sitting atop a stack of papers on my dresser with a few other minis, when the weight on the stack shifted. The Mad Cat ended up on the bottom, with its little plastic leg snapped at the joint. It took me *years* to get it glued back into position properly.

How about someone walking away with 135 of my minis at a convention 10 or so years ago?
Kinda puts your mech's broken leg into it's correct context, doesn't it?

I lost close to 4 dozen minis out of my house recently. Or least I think it was recently since I have no idea how long that window was unlocked. I still would not know about it now except I had a week off work and decided to count them all and do up a list of just what I had.
It went kinda like this.
Hey! I KNOW I had more than one Vulture! Wait! Where is my ComGuards Mercury?
The good news is that it must have been some dumb kid somewhere in the neighborhood who didn't know Battletech all that well, since he took zero of my nearly hundred unseens and almost no OOP minis either. Nor did my 1200 dollar digital camera disappear, etc. Just somebody getting themselves an instant mini collection. I doubt I'll ever kow who did it.
Still, we're talking about a good 4 to 6 hundred bucks worth of replacing, not to mention painting.
And that blasted thief didn't even take the Kell Hounds Wolfhound with the paint that always chips off of the right shoulder no matter how many times I try to fix it.
By the way, if you live near Port Arthur, Texas and you know some kid who recently got a bunch of new minis and vehicles, at least half of them painted and one of them a solid white Mercury with black decal numbers and a Word of Blake decal insignia and a Spartan painted the same way, nail him to the nearest wall and e-mail me.

I haven't lost a bunch of mini's like chihawk and Gunslinger, but I have had my share of problems with them. Mostly the dang things just keep falling apart every time I try to use them. My lance of Marauder II's is now a duo since two of them fell to pieces, and in transporting my Phoenix Hawk LAM the thing fell apart at the waist.
POS glue *grumble* *grumble*

My second was a Pirana. I panited white and was going to give it a snow commo. When I put on the black paint. It looked more like a cow then a battlemech.
So I wanted to start from scratch. So I took some advice from the net on how to remove paint from a mini. And made a solution of Barryman's B12 and 100 proof Alcohle. and put the mini in there for 12 hours.
The next morning I check on it. The paint was off. (I could see it floating on the top)But the mini was now just lump of pewter at the bottom of the jar.

Thinking that these minis would be around forever, and not really knowing how addicting this game would be, I hacked my BattleDroid Warhammer up to use it's PPCs to make a Catapult-K. Which looks very cool even today with the retro-PPCs, but man do I miss having that Whammer!

I lost a vulcan from my patio ledge once. I was letting it dry from sealing. I am pretty sure it fell and some local kids thought how cool. Does not piss me off but makes me wonder what really did happen.
I have probably lost at least a dozen minis over the years at cons, games, misplaced, etc. I know because I am missing members of what was once full painted companies.
But as I ramble..... the wost was when a box of minis fell off the top of my Bronco. 24 minis spilled onto the pavement, broke apart and many got scratehd and dented (these were lead). The worst of it, it had my Marauders, T bolts and other pain in the ass to assemble mechs in it.
AWAD- whose mechs are in gold storage since I have a rampaging 17 month old

I used to let my cats into my computer room, where I keep all my minis... (you can probably see where this is going.)
Well, I keep my minis on three shelves, fairly high up on the walls. One day, I come home from work, and two of the shevles are on the floor, and I have huge holes in the walls where they were ripped out! There was parts of minis all over the room, and I was finding them for weeks afterwards. I eventually managed to get them all back together, and put them back up on display. Things were okay for a while...
A few months ago they did the same thing, without actually pulling the shelves from the walls. Unfortunately I haven't had the time to fix them yet, so mos of my minis are lying, broken, on the battlefield right now, waiting for a salvage team!
