After I had my rear handed to me on the first match we had time to fight a second. (stupid dice)
Oafman - Fast Frog and Lumberjack
Seraph - Warhammer WHM-7X and Jagermech JM7-x
The map was one of the desert sinkhole maps.
Can you guess who won? and why? One of us will post the results on Tuesday. (if we remember)

I didn't have any of my lighter mechs on paper yet as we set this match up. So while I was having my Warhammer face off with his Lumberjack I opted to send my one JagerMech against his Fast Frog. Be interesting to see how you all think how this one will go.

Did you agree on that duelling setup?
Personally, I prefer Seraph's 'mechs. The Fast Frog is light and extremely vulnerable. But then, it ain't gonna stay still, there will probably be a +4 to hit it all the time. Making it very survivable. The Lumberjack strikes me as difficult to use. It all depends on how Oafman mastered his own design.
If Oafman concentrates his firepower on that Jagermech, it will drop fast, leaving Seraph bereft of some serious firepower. If it really was up to a duelling match.... Well that Warhammer looks more effective on paper, if the fight actually closes. At ranges, Oafman does more damage and has more armour.
I don't know, I'd probably give this one to Oafman, but only just. However, the fact that he started this thread would affirm my hunch!

How about if I say that we played at my house, so my computer was the closest.

I slapped Oafman with my vote for this one, I've played all these except his Lumberjack, but I went with a gut instinct here.

I'd say Oafman can take it more often with this team. The frogger is not much of a mech, but it's incredibly manueverable. The Lumberjack is tough and has some serious punch at range. Taking down the old foil-for-armor disgrace called the JagerMech shouldn't be too hard, and then it's two against the Warhammer.

I was worried going into this one at first. Then he rolled snake eyes 2 rounds in a row on the UAC 5s. That took him down to just 2 guns out of the 4. The Lumberjack and the Warhammer made for good opponents. They tore each other to shreds both at range and in close. (again with this match I never got a chance to swing that hatchet) The Frog spent a lot of time hiding in the sinkholes when I lost initiative. So it only fired at the Warhammer one round. It did keep the Jagermech pretty busy though. After the Jager lost 2 of the UACs I left it alone and concentrated all fire from the Lumberjack on hsi Warhammer. The 2 brutes danced for about 6-8 rounds before they were both red hot with heat and filled with holes. The funny thing was, our location rolling was so spread out we did not get many crits. By the end of the dance both mechs were missing almost all of their exterior armor and has nicks in the structure. Then came the bad news for Seraph. A missed piloting roll put him on the ground right in front of the Lumberjack. The TSM was in full force so he received a 30 point kick in the left torso that destroyed his reactor. The next few rounds did not even involve the Lumberjack. He was able to take a break for the rest of the battle (he was hot enough that firing anything but the gauss would have risked a shutdown or ammo explosion) The Frog then was able to pick away the last of the armor for the Jager. It was a fun match. Especially after losing badly on the Samurai-Dominator match. I was very pleased with the performance of my Lumberjack. Its first match ever and it kills a Warhammer virtually unassisted.

Sounds like fun, even if my prophetic talents were somewhat shamed. Why is it that people always do things in some other way than I thought would be best?

I thought about taking out the Jager first, but by the 3rd round it was missing half of its long range power. So I felt safe in ignoring it for a few rounds while the Lumberjack worked on the Warhammer. If it had not lost the UACs to unlucky die rolls I probably would have taken a few more shots at it.

You forgot to mention that the JageMech was able to hit the Fast Frog 5 times in the 4 rounds it was fired at. Also Your Lumberjack spent the last couple rounds on it's back as I recall. Leaving the only mech standing at the end being your Fast Frog.
We started out in opposite corners on the desert sinkhole map. I kept my Warhammer in front of the JagerMech and also kept them close together for a while. The JagerMech took a few shots in the first 3 rounds that stripped it's CT armor bare. It did hit the Fast Frog though for some good hits that made Oafman hide in a hole for a rounnd. The Warhammer plodded over to meet the Lumberjack as Oafman was getting great rolls on his ranged attacks so I decided to attack with my better short range weapon groups. It got real nasty there for a bit. We stayed pretty much toe-to-toe for about 5 rounnds. The was more armor oin the grounnd than there was on all 4 mechs put together. Also the kick didn't kill the Warhammer. It hurrtt a lot but I got up the next round and sent you to your backside on my salvo. I knew I was gonna die so with heat spiking at 14 I gave it a full out alpha strike and shutdown and blew up. You left the Lumberjack laying there to cool down and used to Fast Frog to take down my JageMech.

OK so I forgot that I fell also. It was still fun. Not much salvage though. Especially since the Warhammer went critical that last round it fired.
