Okay, I don't know if this is the correct place to put this post, or if anyone else has comment on this, but here goes.

I noticed some flaws in the Drawing Board Mech design Software, mostly in regards to rules form MaxTech.

The minimum number of heats sinks availible to a mech is 10. This makes sense for fusion engines, but a Mech (Battle or Utility) with an ICE engine suddenly has 10 heats sinks, and no way to get rid of them.

The other problem is that patchwork armour will not let you mount reactive armour in the legs. I'm pretty sure that Heavy Metal Pro allows this (as I was copying a HMP record sheet), but for whatever reason DB doesn't.

If anyone else has run into these problems, or any others with Drawing Board, or knows of ways to get around them, I wouldn't mind hearing them.

Why use anything else at this point. I don't know what we did before Rick released Heavy Metal Pro. It is by far the best product out there. and the best part of it all is that he keeps it so far up to date it is scary. He even puts in the stuff they are working on as soon as the initial rules are writtne to see if it actually works, and as soon as the rules are eleased to the public the update is out on the street for everyone.

All hail Dr. Rick Raisely

It's one of the only programs I know of that when you post a question you get an answer very quickly (usually within a couple hours) and if it's a program issue it's fixed rapidly.

I'm not sure what HMPro costs on its own (it can't be more than $25), but I do know it's worth every penny.

I agree...I got my copy from Mordel, so I didn't pay a dime for it (thanks Mordel!), but I certainly would pay to have the other programs...if I actually played enough that I'd ever actually use them

I just wish he had support for Battlespace on there...always preferred that to Aerotech.

Your prayers are answered. HeavyMetal Aero supports not only Aerotech 2, but Battlespace as well.

Actually Both Aero and BA are 29.00 and the others are 22.00.

Teh biggest area the Drawing Board has problems in is the armor rounding area. It doesn't round like the current rules state, then there are some issues with the BV as well BUT HMPro doesn't always give you the same BV as what is listed on the record sheet or in the TROs either, so that tells me there is more of an issue with the whole BV system then either program.

TDB is free, not supported 100% and hasn't been updated in well over a year or more.

HMPro cost around $25 (including S&H) and is supported 100% has monthly if not trimonthly updates and works well on any system. Plus it has a website that allows instant commo with the maker and the play testers as well as host of other folks who use it daily.

Both are good programs and allow you to meet what you are looking for, just as I know folks who still only use MechWork or MekWorks since either they dont want to spend money on something they can do for free or they don't want fancy just simple.

Let us know if and when you get your project completed.

You didn't correct me, you affirmed that HMPro is indeed under $25.

About HMPro:

1) Is the price in American dollars?
2) Do the record sheet printouts look like the FASA ones? I have a book of record sheets (Record Sheets MechWarrior One) that use MHPro, and I don't like the way they look.

Also, about the BV system, ever try to work one out on your own? It makes college-level logarithms look easy!

1) Yes.

2) The use the HMPro format, which is what's in that book.

HMPro figures out BV for you...I've never felt the need to do one by hand.

Actually, I recall reading (perhaps on the HMPro site) that the recent official record sheet books are made with HMPro.

and if I'm not mistaken, it is also the Offical Mech Design Program for the game now too.
