It can hardly carry the armor required to survive being hit with anything heavier than MG fire. An encounter with a hidden rifle platoon means instant death.

The angy little man is a good way to raise the moral of ground troops.

Now I'm not saying hatchets are the greatest thing on a light mech, I'm saying I can use them to good effect. Personally I prefer my hatchets on a fast, TSM using medium mech. One that has the proper weapons load to use its TSM very very well.

You can't physical using the hidden unit rules...
|
|
Didn't say that. The unit is hidden, then when the other player goes by or is in range to be jumped behind I move the unit as normal and then physical at end of turn
And yes, I'm playing devil's advocate on this. It ISN'T my favorite tactic, but I can make it work

As others have pointed out physical attacks in general are really only useful on larger mechs ... you just don't get the bang/buck on a lighter mech. As for weapons, you really want TSM to make a go of them anyhow. TSM will double your damage and increase your movement ... two things rather important to any physical attack endeavors. On lighter mechs though ... if you must got with a weapon a sword is superior. You will get very close to hatchet damage with better accuracy and for less tonnage. Hard to beat that math.
And of course once you have TSM you are crazy to put a weapon a 60 ton or heavier mech since at 60 tons your punch now does 12 damage ... which is a head-chopper and you get 2 swings on the punch chart.
That said the thing about weapons is your get the best attacking range with them (360 degrees) and can attack from the ground up to +1 levels with them. That's really nice and often overlooked and superior to any standard physicals. _________________ I know nothing.

You mean like my friend in college that tried to 'strafe' with a LAM? All that landed was the head and center torso.
Now there is an interesting idea. Anyone try putting a axe/sword/club on a LAM?

Banzai LAM! Just fly at full speed and use whole mech as large javelin (Dire Wolf destroyed by Stinger LAM can be good trade ).

Suicide attacks are better left to Savanah Masters with explosives in place of the laser. Even less cost.

Then we get to the question about what the LAM is when in AirMech mode. It can be shot at like a VTOL, so perhaps it should be considered one? VTOLs aren't allowed to charge.
