Well 2 Atlases are cheaper than the Daishi in terms of C-bills. I played several games tied to C-Bills (not BV) plenty of times and using 2 11 mil+ mechs is alot cheaper than those 25 mil clan Daishis.

And if the Daishi player is smart s/he wins that battle anyway

The Clanners dont use C-Bills for the most part as far as I know...only Ghost Bear, Nova Cat, and Diamond Shark.

I love Inner Sphere mechs.
The Daishi would wipe the floor with one and probably any two Atlas varients you picked.
It just isn't really a contest.

Correct, neither Mech could be considered Munchy.
Also, asking which you like better could have two meanings. The first of which is, which one do you like from a fluff/story standpoint, which I would say the Atlas.
The second is, which do you like to fight in? That is obviously the Daishi. So the question wasn't asked adequately.
In any event, I think the Daishi does have a cool look to it as well. Some say it looks like an office building. I think it epitomizes clan Mech design technology and practices, and is as recognizable as the Atlas.

Anyone ever look through the old Record Sheets Book 4: Assault Mechs? It had 2 oddities in it, the AS7-D(C) Atlas, and the VTR-9B(C) Victor. Both classic 3025 IS Mech's rigged up with ClanTech.

following Mordel's template;
fluff/story: Atlas, it's big, it's ugly, and it suits my tastes in mechs. Sure the Diashi will wipe the floor with any Atlas any day of the week and it is a good looking mech, but it just lacks the aura of the Atlas.
In a Fight: Atlas, at least I'd die with my pride and dignity intact.

Thor is my favorite for that particular job.

Atlas...a 'mech so foreboding that fear itself shall be our ally...in General Kerensky's words. The real Kerensky...not that brat Nicholas. Too bad Amaris never got him when he had the chance. Preventing the formation of the clans would have gone a long way towards balancing his other crimes.

I'm not sure with that. If the succession wars were destructive, what would they be if whole army fell under control of the house lords.

I don't know. But I'm quite sure that much would depend on the conclusions of historians studying the life and deeds of First Lord Paul Davion.

Unfortunately, with the surprisingly low amount of armour that a Thor carries, one good wack from the Atlas's main gun or LRM rack, and you'll be hurting.
