==Overview:==
Named after Admiral Elsar G. Filmont, a famous fleet commander from early in
the Star League's history, the Filmont class light cruiser was designed as one
of the Federated Sun's workhorse designs.
Faster than large, expensive battleships, and more heavily armed and armored
than light destroyers and frigates, cruisers form a pillar of any navy, and
the AFFS is no exception.
The Filmont was designed to fulfill almost any function it could be given,
from reconnaisance-in-force to forming light battlegroups to filling out
battleship- and carrier-lead flotillas.
==Capabilities:==
Designed to operate away from support bases for moderate lengths of time, the
Filmont carries a significant fuel load, and is able to independently maintain
itself for up to three months with its' internal stores. If the ship carries
supply dropships, the vessel's operational tour can be extended to almost a
full year before it needs to return to a base to be resupplied.
To assist in the ship's independence from supply bases, the Filmont carries
very little ammunition-based weaponry, and does not make them a primary aspect of
the ship's offensive power. Although the three large Century 5000 power plants
take up a large amount of the ship's available internal space, the Filmont
still manages to carry a respectable amount of weaponry and armor.
As workhorses of the fleet, Filmont cruisers can be expected to perform many
tasks, including ferrying dignitaries and other VIPs to various destinations.
To this end, the vessel comes with several spare rooms for visitors, clustered
near the nose of the ship. When this space is not in use however, it is often
usurped by the ship's marines for use as an impromptu training area.
When engaged in combat, a Filmont will commonly launch their fighters, and
detach whatever dropships it may be carrying before closing to engage. When
close enough, the vessel will sometimes deploy the battalion of space marines
it carries for such contingencies.

I like the cruiser, but I have 2 suggestions
1) Why not LAMSes? Make the AMSes LAMSes will increase the ships already impressive durability.
2) AC/5s? Thats a joke right? Every one knows that only RAC/5s or UAC/5s are worth taking...otherwise your better off with an energy weapon. You already have an impressive long range punch from the ER Lasers...and the capital weapons
I like the mass of close-in weapons...
However, I think It'd be a good idea to scrap the silly AC/5s and increase some of your ER Laser Bays to 5 guns each.

The LAMS is level 3 tech. None of that here.

It was originally going to be an SLDF design, and the LB5-X didn't exist. It was changed to a late-era Davion design at the last minute. Besides, I like AC/5s. Two tons lighter than the AC/10, a farther reach, and double the ammo load. You can't do a lot of damage fast, but that's not the job of the AC/5.

Any type of AC is ideal to say "Flak off" to any fighter flying around. And they produce only minimal heat.

I like it. A do everything ship. Always a good thing to have around.
A couple of issues, though.
One, it's lightly armored, although there's not much to be done about it. Then again, I really pack in heavy armor on WarShips, so maybe it's just me.
Second, why is it carrying battle armor?

Against boarding. BA can move about and provide heavy firepower to other marines.

Yeah, but the battle armor aren't part of the ship. They can no more defend the ship from boarding than a Kyushu's onboard BattleMech regiment can defend it from boarding. That's my understanding of it, anyways.
The battle armor aren't being carried as Marines, they're being carried as droppables, as cargo. If they'd been carried just as Marines, it would have made sense and I wouldn't have asked.

Changing the armor type would increase protection, but would make the ship more expensive and harder to build. As it is, the ship carries the warship equivalent to standard 'mech armor. Improved Ferro-Aluminum, Ferro-Carbide, or Lamellor Ferro-Carbide, while making the ship more survivable, require special manufacturing facilities and materials, need ships to transport them to the construction site, etc. Plus the big battleships have first crack at the available supplies.
The battle armor is there to board OTHER ships.

Swtiching the AC/5s for LB-5X will greatly increase the "Oh Shit" factor against incoming fighters.
The light armor isn't so bad, but i got only 1 niggle, why only enuff supplies for 153 days ?
I always try to build ships with at least a year's worth of supplies , a slightly annoying trait i have....

Can you imagine being trapped on a ship for a whole year? Even today, with all the amenities that sailors get, the maximum peacetime deploy time in the US Navy is, last time I heard, about six months (although that can be temporarily extended). Otherwise stress levels start climbing, cabin fever sets in, and the whole ship degenerates in effectiveness. I think 5 months of supplies will be adequate.

True. But I see this as being almost identical to the rocket launchers on many 'Mechs in TRO 3067. Yes, RLs are cheap, but they cost more in the long run when you consider the cost of replacing 'Mechs destroyed by being poorly armed with RLs and little else.
I think that the cost of Lamellor F-C armor is acceptable when compared to the cost of or repairs of heavy damage or replacement of the ship.
My recommendation would be to up the armor despite the cost, but, as always, it's your design.

I didn't know it could be done like that. Wouldn't you need more small craft to ferry them over? Or were you going to just send them on their own?

Small craft not required. They travel under the power of their own jump jets.
Conversely, they might simply crawl out of their bays and try to stop enemy troops from boarding in the same manner.

The battle armor is there to board OTHER ships.

I didn't know it could be done like that. Wouldn't you need more small craft to ferry them over? Or were you going to just send them on their own?
|
|
What? I say if a jedi can do it in Clone Wars then Elementals can do it in BT. j/k.

BA can lave it's bay just like techs can enter it, if the ship has corridors big enough for BA (just like clan ships). Everything else had been already said somewhere below this.

Redesign time: to be the workhorse of the fleet, the Filmont has to be mass-produced. To be mass-produced, it has to be cheap. The Lithium-Fusion system had to go.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
==Capabilities:==
To assist in the ship's independence from supply bases, the Filmont carries
very few ammunition-based weaponry, and does not make them a primary aspect of
the ship's offensive power.
