I have to agree with Blackhand on this one. The TSM is rarely going to be active (and last I checked its Davion only) which makes it a waste. The Targeting comp is nice but as stated by others not a DCMS item. (a little fluff can change and or explain that though). other wise tis a design with some potential.

TURN OFF SOME HEAT SINKS!
*looks very tired*
(p. 47 old Master Rules and probably somewhere under Heat section in newer edition)
Sometimes reading the topics (1, 2) I started over previous ratings isn't complete waste of time.
I don't want to argue about the availability of various items. I was not aware of it when I posted it, but I thought that the TSM is generally available (Houses Liao and Kurita use it too (Ti Ts'ang, No-Dachi)).
Possible explanation to TC is that DCMS captured some limited amount of them and wanted to use them on their mechs. These machines are probably available only to elite units (Sword of light, ...) that may be able to repair the computers. Other units may receive C3 variant (I'm working on it).

And when SPECIAL RULES are needed to utilize the full potential of a mech and all its items, there is a problem. NOT everyone uses the HS rule (infact my gaming group doesnt and a few of them play with other groups that dont even reconize that rule as being valid).
Sorry if you dissagree but I stand behind what I said.

SPECIAL RULE? Turning off HS is a valid level 1 turney legal action, which means who ever is not using, allowing, or recognizing it is playing some bastardized Level 3 version of BT and not BT.

Shutting Off Heat Sinks p. 47 old Master Rules and probably somewhere under HEAT section in new edition, there is nothing special about this rule.
Sorry for being rude, but I'm already about this.

Well then be angry about it. Sorry you dont like my review. But let my try to put this so it comes across clear with no misinterpertations.
I dont want to have to shutdown part of my mech to get the most out of it, lvl 1 rule or not. I would MUCH rather keep it where it needs to be through weapons fire.
The reason the other groups dosent use that rule is they had a member (that doesnt play anymore) do what you suggest then "convientely" forget to turn HS back on and would alpha strike. So to avoid that situation again they dont use it. The group I am with now MAY use it again (if I can convince them to), But most of them have such a bad taste in thier mouth after that incident that it may be a rule we dont use.
**note I dont give the rule much thought either way since there are 7 guys in the group and 5 who had a bad experiance with it, I PERSONALLY DONT CARE EITHER WAY REGARDING THE RULE**
Again. Be upset about it, if you want. Its a pretty silly thing to get that worked up over.

Your review and rating are O. K. , but I'm using the rules as they are written and not using them just seems like wasted potential. When I have more heat sinks than weapons than it allows me to ignore engine crit. or fire effects.

I'm probably sitting on on my contact wire today, but what does that mean? When you alpha strike with heat sinks turned off then you probably overheat, don't you?

From what they told me (never played with tht other group) he would run a custom mech with a hatchet and tsm. To get the unit TSM activated he would shut down HS then a few rounds later without announcing that he reactivated them, he would alpha strike effectively shutting down his mech (or causing the ammo to cook off) but wouldnt mark it as being overheated claiming he had enough HS to vent all heat and not run hot. I guess they cought on after 3 or 4 game sessions. /shrug

I never tried to cheat with this, we play with all papers, that aren't necessarily secret, visible for all.

I never said you did. Just giving you a perspective as to where the other group is comming form.
