Okay say this a couple of days ago. It was very well done. The tripods are nicely done and look very close to the pictures from some of the illastrated HG Wells books. Over all the movie follows a basic outline of the book, it hits the major points of the book pretty well.
So extra fluff here or there, but nothing major to take away from the movie. Battle scense are limited, they happen but they could have been more of them, but what is shown are decent and pretty close to the confusion that does happen when you are in a combat setting.
The special effects for the aliens, I don't think they call them Martians at all in the movie, are very decent. They look real enough and seem to have some thought put into them and how they act and react to things.
Overall a decent flick, one that you could wait for to hit second running, but one worth seeing.
Oh and the theater I went to had a trailer for King Kong, based off what I saw there, and what I have seen and read online, King Kong is on the list.
Now if only V For Vendetta is half as good as the graphic novel...to bad Alan Moore left the production staff. Heard it was over differences with the Director over certain scense and such.
