I just picked this up the other day, as I was looking for something new to play. I had never played Ever Quest, as I didn't like the fact that you had to pay a fee to play it, plus it seemed to be power gaming on a whole new level. And it seemed that if you wanted to advance you had become an addict.

Well, as I had been looking at the box for Guild Wars it peeked my interest. No fee, plus it claimed to reward you for skill rarther than hours played.

But what can I say other than that I love this game. It is great. The graphics are great, even though I'm using a "unsupported" older graphics card (NVidia GeForce 2 Pro 64MB). It recommended a GeForce Ti 4 Pro card. I can't wait to try it out with my new system once the parts finally arrive in the mail.

The game is easy to get the hang of. Lots of options, particularly easry on (where I am at). Only one race to play though, but 30 class combinations. Wariror, Ranger, Monk, Mesmer (kind of a Illusionist/Charmer), Elementalist, and a Necromancer. You choose one primary class to start, but then you can pick a secondary class in the game, and you get to try them out before you chose, which is cool.

So has anyone else played this yet? If so what do you think so far.

I'm playing on the America Server with this name, so if you see me, give me a shout.

Here is the review from GameSpy.com

http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/guild-wars/613203p1.html

I disagree with the comments about te controls, I don't think that they are that crappy, but it is annoying that you are trying to get somewhere only to find out that there is a cliff in the way, and you can't get down it, unless you go way way way out of your (and usually through monster infested territory).

I just might join your guild. I started my own though with this (my first Character) called the Crimson Janissaries). So far it is just me, but I couldn't resist. I'll be sure to let you know if I want ot join with another Character. Right now Alexx Knight is is a Warrior/Monk Level 7. I just finished all my little side quests in the Prelude. I had a hell of a time on the North side of the Great Wall, I had to stoope to a grab the guy and run out sneaky style to avoid getting clobbered by the Level 8 Charr near him, like happened the first 3 times I tried, and I was Level 7 at the time too when I first went over the wall.

What time are you usually on? I'm 13 hours ahead of the East Coast though.

First, once you join a guild, all you chars are in that guild.

Second, if you think that mission was tough, you are gonna love the next area. Word of advice to you: gather about 40 iron ingots and save up about 900 gold.

Third, i am west coast US. i haven't been on lately because of RPG burn out. however, i am typicxally on between 3 and 11 pm PST.

What do I get for 40 Iron nuggets and 900 gold?

And that sucsk that all your Characters are in the same guild. If I had known that I wouldn't have started my own with this Character. Oh well. I couldn't come up with a good cape for my guild. Best I came up with was all Crimson. No Emblem or design. Our paint scheme in the campaign was Crimson with Gold Trim/Arms.

To get the ingots, you need to salvage metal arms using a salvage kit which can be purchased at the merchent.

another alternative is to save up about 1.5k and just buy the iron in the next town. prices change.

Nice Cape.

Post-Searing Ascalon has much better armor then any you can find in Pre-Searing, even the collectors armor. And all Warrior armor requires iron to craft. For the better ringmail armor in Ascalon you will need 14 iron ingots and 750 gold, though if you can you may want to bring more gold for the other goodies you can buy, such as two more bags.

This website has some good information about the game and armor and such.

Oh, my main character is named Kai Moanna. I have others, but I play as her the most.
