heatsinks to cool off the heat created from firing the PPCs and LRM-20 (as the
Gauss produces nearly no heat).

Its only backup weapon is a medium laser, mounted in the center torso.

Ok at least this Atlas retains the LRM20. But with 4 weapons having minimum ranges and only 1 medium laser for backup is not a good idea.

Commendable effort but not quite there. Try swapping the PPCs for twin ERLLs instead. Twin ERLs do not have mins which is a good thing.

The freed tonnage can give you 2 more DHS, 2 medium rearward facing lasers which is important for Dracs facing clanners while providing CASE protection for LRM20 and GR.

If cost is an issue, this mod will only cost at most 10,960,000 c-bills which is still under 11 mil and you have the same long range fire power as the AS7-K which is double the cost and even less heat efficiency.

I like this! But putting the GR into the torso and fitting a PPC in each arm would resemble the original look more! (Odd sentence but I can´t say it a better way! Sorry for my english!)
Almost all weapons have minimum range but if you try to stay in relative open terrain you can pound an enemy as he closes. If he is there: fire the GR (only min range of 2) and the Medium Laser and forget about the PPC´s! Try to punch instead to do 2 x 10 damage!

Another idea!
Put the Medium Laser in the head to resemble a cigar between the Atlas´s "teeth"!
Think it would look cool!

I would drop third medium, but otherwise it looks like Atlas now.

Woot looks closer to my idea than Rudel.

I will miss the CASE though, LRM20 ammo causes big booms everywhere but i guess he is more inlined with a field refit.

(CASE is a factory only refit)

There was a picture of lvl 3 Atlas (small cockpit) with Large ER laser in head, but that was before they reorganized it, I don't know if it's still there.

Yea, the cigar was kickass.

Anything bigger than a medium cigar would look well...wrong. I see the cigar as a Solaris VII thing.

And wasn't the AC/20 in the arm anyway?

It's a really nice looking mech, both versions if you use them right. Of course, same could be said of any mech.

As for the cigar thing, doesn't the Hauptman come stock with a cigar?

This (the second version) is quite good. Weapons for all ranges, but especially for long range. If you switch the RT laser with the gauss, then I'll call this an Atlas. Indeed, it would be the AS7-K perfected and as it would have been had the designers been sane.

I've never really considered CASE so complex as to be a factory refit, so I would much rather drop the cigar for CASE (which will keep you from getting smoked). But that's just me.

Off topic, but I couldn't resist:

That actually isn't an odd sentence at all, I'd say. It makes perfect sense, and is grammatically correct.

The stock AC20 was RT mounted.
