How many here actually use this? Is it, DFA, worth the risk?

What do you folks think?

First off, don't be surprised if by the morning Chihawk moves this to the General Discussion menu.

I have only used it once, and that was as a last-ditch effort. It's so hard to pull off and with so much risk of backfiring that few people would use it. Even then, you would need a mech with full leg armor (or at least near-full.) Best results would suggest a heavier-end mech, but most don't have jets, especially many of the older ones.

Same as with Kraken. A last ditch. And only then if I really had to win the battle. Such moves are frowned upon in the clans. Waste and all. And most the time. I am offered Higra before it comes down to such actions.

But I have used it once or twice. And was not disappointed with the results

God, I hate to use this example, but... DFA is the best finishing move. It's got a little class, loads of style and it is a heck of a lot easier to DFA the prone, immobile mech that is missing a leg. And of course, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat with a hail Mary DFA is talked about for years.

Ask Gangrene about my use of DFA. I used a 65 tonner to take out a 95 tonner. it actually worked pretty well. The 65 tonner ended up falling on its head after the attack...but I knocked his 'mech over, allowing my lance-mates to fire on a prone 'mech for the next few turns. He surrendered cause he couldnt get back up. So it can work, when used properly...

I'm wondering why I'd move this from "General Discussion" to "General Discussion"?

DFAs are such a successful move I invite every one of my opponents from this point forward to attempt the manuever.

I'm sure you would enjoy watching them fall on the faces....Until one actually lands on you, pile-driving you into the ground......

DFA can be a very effective move. Just have to know when to use it. I love it when my completely healthy opponent decides that he "needs to DFA me" and lands at my feet in a huddled mass.

It used to be very effective to push a target into a hex he doesn't want to go (Like down the side of a hill, or off a map) because you used to automatically claim the target hex whether you hit or not. I believe though, that rule has changed and a miss puts you in the hex just before the target's.

I don't use it much, but it is always good for a surprise.

No, the attacker still claims the hex but on a miss the defender chooses what hex s/he moves to. On a hit the defender is moved 1 hex in the opposite direction of the attack.

Gangrene...I am open to a rematch any day after Memorial Day weekend! And this time I think the teams should be a lil' more balanced...

So your Pheonix Hawk has lost both his arms? DFA baby...DFA! (besides, charging someone when you have no arms just looks plain silly, Black Knight anyone?)

A nice DFA is alot of fun in a Highlander or a Gladiator, especially fun if you're using a CGR-1A9. Your opponent takes one look at your record sheet, laughs and then cries when you land your pathetic 80 ton mech on his head.

I usually laugh when anyone declares a DFA against one of my units.

I get to shoot them and then they almost always crash into the ground causing themselves more damage.

I rarely use any physical attack. They just made the rules too defender biased for my tastes.
