So, I and Rudel started this discussion about dealing with those small things under battlemech feet.

This was invented so far:

- Crushing with hatchet broad side (technically not too viable).
- Spread Infantry around terrain with Sword like butter (the same problem as before).
- Playing golf with hatchet.
- Using hatchet to create log and roll it over infantry.
- Sweeping strike (problem - doubles the amount of troopers, but changes racial type to halfling).
- Stomping (classic).
- Firing the JJs and baking them.

No rules created.

If they are swarming: fire SRM-infernos at each other! You´ll get a bit heat but you get rid of the ants!

Stop Drop and Roll already has rules. A Mech can go prone and shake off infantry. I think. It's been a long time since I've had to deal with foot sloggers.

Standard Infantry vs. 'Mechs is just slaughter anyways. Anti-Mech infantry working in squads of 4 can kneecap a mech before it even knows they're there if they are good

Where are you gonna find 4 squads of Anti-mech infantry in a fight with a single mech? It would have to be an incredibly haughty mechwarrior...oh, well, that would explain it.


(As I recall the rules, anti-mech infantry are extraordinarilly rare, something akin to one squad in a brigade. I wouldn't take a single mech against an entire brigade of infantry, especially late in the game-universe when anti-mech tactics of regular infantry improve.)

On another note, for golf:

1.) Pick a hex. That's the hole.
2.) Find an infantry squad. That's the ball.
3.) Strike infantry squad with flat of hatchet.
4.) Roll damage. That is the distance the "ball" flies.
5.) locate where the ball lands using the artillery scatter charts.

Tweaks anyone?

Can't really golf with normal infantry, too small.

Battle armor on the other hand...

Reg infantry, here are some tactics...

1) Quads- Stampede! Vairant of the stomping.
2) Buzzsaw and claw combo-- Bloody carnage! The buzzsaw rips them into small pieces, and you can slice, or throw infantry with the claw.
3) If you're one for wasting ammo, fire NARCs at individual troopers. It will either send the trooper flying or just crush em. Either way, its an entertaining waste of C-Bills.
4) Bowling. Grab a random infantryman and throw em like a bowling ball at the rest of the platoon. Works best when they're clustered.
5) Juggling. Grab a couple infantrymen or Battle Armor suits and juggle. Great for showing of your awesome coordination and mech handling skills. (Experts only)
6) For a fun combination, create custom salvos of SRMs. Half of them should be infernos, the other half fragmentation. Ouch.









Battle Armor Baseball- (modified golf, still using blunt side. Alternately, you can use a sword, but at a 3 hex reduction)

Step 1) Find a pitcher and a suit of BA. Alternately, you can pitch to yourself by throwing the suit up. (+2 to hit modifier)

Step 2A) Pitcher makes a piloting skill roll, +3 modifier. If he suceeds, the pitch is good. (If you have a pilot with a bad piloting skill, keep a large stockpile of BA nearby)

Step 2) Roll to hit. If you hit, roll an additional D6. A 1 indicates a foul tip, the BA flies one hex backwards. Anything else is a solid hit.

Step 3) Toss D6 per 20 tons, plus 1/4 of the hatchets damage (TSM is illegal). This is how far the poor BA goes.


SCORING CHART--

Out- <5 Hexes
Single- <8 Hexes
Double- <15 Hexes
Triple- <20 Hexes
Home Run- >25 Hexes

Well, I refer to infantry and Battle Armor as squishies and cruchies for a reason. (Hmmm....maybe some enterprising soul could work up a Mech Golf Club, based on the sword. Or would a Mace work better?)

I've been fond of infantry soccer myself but any sport would do. Tennis, dodge ball, hacky sack, etc.

I wonder if you could load infantry into canisters to be fired as ammo?

Infantry don't trigger thunders do they?

I really like the jump jets and narc idea! Very creative.
