People DON'T? That's the half the point of mounting flamers.

Well, I'm just sayin... it is an optional rule.

Of course, I always use it.

Flamers would be much more popular if they did both, than they would compete with med lasers, instead of competing with MGs, ...

... eh compete

We have a homerule since the beginning of the play: Flamers do 2 damage and 2 heat per hit!

I think that this house rule would be quite widespread

IIRC they do heat OR damage, not both. However, it makes sense. (Doing Both)

We thought that only 2 damage and the ability to burn some woods wouldn´t compensate the 3 heat this weapon does to the firering unit itself!

That's an optional rule, we talked about house rule that allows it.

Flamer really needs something to compensate for 3 heat and 1/2/3 range.

Why? Abuse the BV system with it instead. Load up a mech with a couple of effective weapons and a big pack of flamers. You'll have bad heat problems and a lowered BV, but then you only use the good guns. Like a clanner light with TC, 2 LPLs and flamers.

You're right. However, this is getting off topic by sorts.

How about the fact they do full damage to infantry in buildings? They have a negative psycological impact on infantry?

I believe that flamers do severe damage to morale if you're using max tech infantry rules.

That may be big IF, I'm talking about standard BMR rules that normally apply (cost and BV are just secondary aspects that may be ignored just like DHS turning off (no more talking about this) or MaxTech)
